Have any of you gone to a fast food resteraunt and were given free food when you bought something? I don't mean they mess up your order and give you somebody elses giant meal. I just came from the Burger King at school and as I was in the middle of ordering, they closed the breakfast menu, so I couldn't get what I wanted. I ended up ordering from the lunch menu, but the person who took my order gave me all of the left over hash browns, a bof of about 12 large orders... For free. There is also this Taco Bell I go to and they know me so much that every once in a while they throw in a free burrito. What has happened to you? Share your food stories.

The most we've ever had happen was at various fast food restaurants that made a mistake with the order.  A few years ago, many fast food restaurants would occasionally give you the exact meal you had before for free when they made a major mistake in your order (added/removed some toppings, forgot an item, etc.).  So we have gotten a few free meals out of this.  It was rare, but it did happen on occasion.  We still have these problems happen, but we don't make a deal out of it anymore.  My mother feels it's not worth the hassle, and I think I agree, usually.  We usually eat at Chick-Fil-A when we get fast food, since we still have a ton of coupons from 2012.  Those calendars, bro.  They're still awesome, but you only get one free item a month using a card that comes with the calendar.  Used to be that you'd get free items whenever (there was a "please use by" date, but they were and still are awesome about letting you use them anytime).  We literally bought about 1,000 calendars because of this.  The investment has paid off handsomely.

First off, let me tell you that you are the luckiest man alive if you got that much free food from a fast food restaurant. Seriously, that's even more rare than winning the lottery.

But no, something like that has never happened to me...well not in real life. I did have a dream about it heppening though. Of course, like always, when I was about to eat it, I was woken up by my parents, so yeah...I was upset.

megamanmaniac: oh, its not rare at all, you just need to know where to go and what to do, plus I doubt they care for 2 reasons. First, they are going to throw the food away anyway, its breakfast food 10 minutes after breakfast ended. If they keep it, they would be fines. Also, the place is located in a school that has 20000 students. They probably began the day with 2000 or so orders, so giving away 12 does not make a difference. However, I did go back after my exam for lunch and they upgraded my order for free. I ordered large everything but they only charged me for small.

Sometimes I get an extra pack of fries for free. But you're pretty lucky to have it happen to you so often!

wow... aside from having mistaken orders, I have never even HEARD of a fast food chain just giving out free food like that. lol  I've never seen it.. and I have to say I'm a little jealous. XD  I guess on really busy days though, it probably happens when there is too much that can be saved over to the next day or taken home by employees.

Never.

Closest thing to it was when McD had run out of drink containers, so they only charged me for a small drink when I got a large one. Then again, I'm not one to go to fast food restaurants often. I avoid them when it's unnecessary, so it's no surprise I don't get benefits as a 'regular', which is what you're describing.

When we used to live in Texas, we got a small box full of leftover sausage biscuits from Burger King. I enjoyed breakfast for a while after that. We have also received free sodas from time to time.

Surgiac :  Was it just because the morning shift was closing down?  I still find this a little surprising. XD I get free food at little events for teachers and when I was in college... for students, but never just as an ordinary civilian. I need to learn this trick. haha

Why the free sodas though?  Frequent customer?

Singelli : Someone was just being generous. It was a pay it forward kind of situation. My family usually pays it forward anyway but it was nice to be on the receiving end of one of those situations.

Surgiac :  oh I see. Awww, that's so awesome.  I've never been the receiver of a 'pay it forward', though I've known to do it myself.  How often does your family eat out and do that?  O.o  I can imagine that gets pretty pricey, but I've never known anyone to do it regularly. That's pretty cool.

Lol I don't go to fast food restaurants (I'm a vegetarian, so around 75% of the food there can't be eaten by me) but I remember I was on holiday in Italia and there was a little bar where we went for breakfasts and they had tic tacs with flavours I hadn't seen before so I asked my mom if we could have some (she's the only one in our family who speaks Italian) so she bought some and told the shopkeeper about us being enthusiastic with the new flavours and then he was very kind for giving us extra packages. The next day we went again to that bar and when my mom told that same man that we liked them he gave even more free tic tacs! That was one of the most generous people I've ever met

The very first time I ever went to Taco Bell (when it first opened in the town I grew up in) I got a free large Mountain Dew because somebody ordered one at the drive-thru and drove away without getting their drink.

Just recently I was at Burger King and was offered a free ice cream because it took them a little bit longer than usual to make my food. There was training going on in the kitchen.

However there was one time at a Jack in the Box in West Eugene where I literally waited 50 minutes for two Jumbo Jacks and a churro. I wasn't really all that hungry but after the 20 minute mark I just stood there to see how long it would take them. Other customers were complaining too, but then these two drugged up hippies walked in and started confronting everyone who had been waiting over a half hour for their food, as if these people didn't have places to be. By the time I hit the 50 minute mark I asked the lady why it was taking so long and she had the audacity to tell me to "pipe down and wait like everyone else". I immediately left the restaurant, drove 1 mile down the road to a Taco Bell (where there were LESS people working, mind you), and got my food in less than 5 minutes. I took Jack in the Box's survey from my phone while eating at Taco Bell and left a scathing review, mentioning the names of everyone who was working.

At my old middle school there was a bar which would turn into a fast food restaurant at lunch time for the school kids (don't know if this counts but it's close enough). The people working there would make the food before it was ordered because there would always be a big crowd and they would want to get as many people their food as fast as possible. So if you would stay after everyone else had left, sometimes there would be left over food that they would give you for free. Me an my friends would usually be the last ones to leave so we would get free Poutines, Burgers, and chicken wings alot.

zanderlex : Hmhm, that's true but it was the first thing that came in my mind, but now I have another example!

When I was a little kid I went to the old Charlie and Chocolate Factory and with my grandma, my little brother and my little sister. After that movie, we went to a bakery and my grandma told the people there about the movie we saw. Then we got free chocolate breads!
