On the radio this morning I heard a news report that the legendary Atari landfill will finally be uncovered on April 26, 2014. Don't know the story about this... urban legend? You can read a pretty detailed article here. So what do you guys think Microsoft will find down there?

Maybe they'll find the genetically mutated and disfigured body of the original Chuck E. Cheese?

I think that they will find the ancient gaming relic known as...The One Crate. You see, Atari buried E.T, the most disasterous game long ago. But Active Enterprises knew of the crate's location. And they used it to dump all their Cheetamen 2 cases as well. Still a saying is whispered through the lands.

Anyways, to me, I think this would be a complete waste of time, because they hid those games for a reason, although I haven't really played the game, but if they are there, then what are they really going to do with those games?

I don't even know if I can bring myself to believe this. Sounds like a joke (though I haven't checked the link yet). If it's real, they probably won't find anything worth having. I mean, Atari released some stuff that no self-respecting gamer would play a second time, so I can only imagine how horrible something would have to have been for them to refuse to share it before now.

Eirinn :  I did check the link, but I'm not gonna lie.... it sounded less than trustworthy to me. I've never used that site, but the article looked like a gag.  lol  I don't know anything about the story to make any determinations though.

It'll be interesting to see what they find. Time to find out if this myth is true once and for all. Pretty sure it's true, though.

And can I say that I don't think ET was as bad as everyone said? You want a game that should be nominated for worst game ever? Play Slaughter Sport on the Genesis, or Dark Castle (also Genesis). Those games (especially slaughter sport) are at least ten times worse than ET. I think more often than not, games get a certain reputation and it clouds our judgement of it. Much like Shaq Fu and Dr. Jekkyl and Mr, Hyde: both of those were alright. I found Shaq Fu to be much better than some more beloved fighters *cough*Street Fighter*cough*, and I actually enjoyed Dr. Jekkyl and Mr. Hyde. It was different, which is why people hated it.

But back on topic...

I still question whether or not Microsoft is pulling our leg. And if they aren't, I don't think Atari buried anything, and they're either trying to put that to rest by letting this be done, or they're pranking Microsoft (fingers crossed that it's the latter).

I also wonder if this is just a big prank, maybe just to get attention.

But if they to find something there, I believe that it might just be a bunch of game cartridges, maybe not even working or even distinguishable from each other. I mean, they have been there for around 25 years, I doubt they'll still be working.
