Like, I never played a zelda game in my life. So, I'm going to try it. What's a zelda game so beginners can play it like me?

soccerman611 :

Try The Ocarina of Time. It's pretty much the best at everything without sucking in some areas. Other than that I recommend the first Zelda Game, Or A link to the Past. Although I dislike A Link to the Past because the graphics are really weird. Zelda 1 is still pretty good though. Has better colors and such than ALTTP in my opinion.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

Mecha Leo :

He might like that one, It's great on your first playthrough. . . sorta. It can just be a tad boring sometimes, but the seild improvements and more RPG like elements can be pretty neat. I don't find the game to much fun to replay though, except boss rush mode and silent realm after you beat the game.

That might work out.

I would go with the original NES The Legend of Zelda.  That gives you a frame of reference and shows you where the history comes from.

From there, hit up SNES's Zelda: A Link to the Past.  It's a great game, fun, versatile, and doesn't show its age.  It's hilarious and a blast and a good time.

From there, try the other games.  Start with the originals to see where the came and you might appreciate the new ones for what they are.

Have fun!

Link's Awakening is a pretty fun Zelda game so I think you should play that and I like Zelda 2 a lot.

I never could get in to the 3d zelda games though. I like my Zelda 2d not 3d.

Also try the original since you know well it is the original game you kinda want to play that first.

Ocarina of time is easily the best in the series but if you wanna go for a 2d/up down point of view the best one is link to a past. I'm sure you will really like the series.

soccerman611: Well, if you want to play a Zelda game, it's really any game, because they are all very similar.

I would honestly refer like most everyone else,
Ocarina of Time. (you can *coughcoughfinditinthergrcoughcough*)

Though the graphics aren't cutting edge by today's standards, it's still a very well put together and classic game for all to play.
It was one of the few Zelda games I actually bothered to 100% (because was my first Zelda game)

But if you want something more for the casual games, I would recommend Skyward Sword instead, as it's definitely for the more casual player and you won't get lost in the world or stuck on puzzles for very long, even though the world can seem very maze like.

Another great title is Majora's Mask, possibly the best single entry, and personally my favorite game in the Zelda series, but it's not really a good first Zelda game as it's fairly difficult and not a very accurate depiction of what the Zelda series is about, and to understand the back story, you will need to have played Ocarina of Time beforehand.

The only issue is that if you get into the Zelda series, is that every single game is almost identical to the other one, it's get  three cookies, and then get 7 more cookies, Zelda gets captured, and then you go to save zelda and have a throw down with Gannon/Gannondorf at the end and it's a happy ending.

So most fans just see the same thing (weather they realize it or not) the same events happen over and over again, and it gets old after about 4 or 5 games or so. And they always cling to their first Zelda game, or Majora's mask. (Ask any fan what their favorite game and you will see unless of course their first game was one of the CD-i games)

I got into Zelda 'bout 3 years ago myself, I played a few games, starting with Ocarina, then Majora's mask, and then Twilight princess and then a link to the past, and Minish cap. It was definitely a  great journey through the series, but I realized that the series had no actual character depth in it outside the dark settings of Majora's Mask.
Their is literally nothing left to really talk about outside of bomb hovering glitches and BiT item recovery. (the Zelda forums here are pretty dead because of this.)

If you want to get into Zelda, make your first game your best, and that would be Ocarina of time, and then Play the vastly different Majora's Mask. and then spare yourself the grief of repetition and $100 to get more of the games.

But of course, that's just my opinion, if you are all for casual games, and the true and tired method of Zelda doesn't get old to you then by all means play all the games, I'm just a random fellow offering my opinion after all.

Also it might be worth noting, I have beaten A Link to the Past 25 times at least, but that's prolly because I got the GBA version, and tried speed-running the game.

------------------

tl;dr Play Ocarina of Time, and then Majora's Mask.

From somebody that's seen it all in the world of Zelda.

P.S  My apoligies if that was biased, I'm just showing my side of the story, either way, good day sir.
