First, I want to point out that I realize this is something that normally belongs in one of the game forums. But, this isn't a "game" in the sense that you play it. It's an addition to an app that a lot of people use, which I guess could also be described as a tool.

That being said, Google has implemented a Pokemon search thing on it's Maps app for, as far as I know, both Android and iOS phones. It's part of an Easter egg thing going on, but I'm not sure how long it'll last. When you load the app, simply touch the "search" icon and a blue poke-ball will appear beneath it. Touch that and you've started the hunt. You'll see Pokemon appear in random places, up to 150 of them (and not limited to the original 150). At present, when I tried it the app automatically zoomed in on the Google headquarters, which has been replace by the Pokemon lab/center building. It seems the Pokemon appear there but not anywhere else. Nothing happened when I scroll up to where I currently live, so I'm guess it's maybe a California thing despite the video I watched stating it's all over the world. If you're from there, have. The things are everywhere: forests, buildings, highways. Would be nice if it was set up so that Pokemon appear based on where you live, and not just a single city in the entire world.

You can watch the video here:

Sadly, this is one of the most real April Fools Day jokes that Google has come up with, aside from Gmail of course. I had always known about the google pranks, so when I first this post, I had to look it up to see what is going on.

I can't actually try the app, and even if Pokwmon can only appear there, that's still a really good prank.

Though are you sure it started already? Because when I saw it, it said that people can register until tomorrow. If I somehow find an andrpid phone or an iPod over the next 24 hours,I am totally going to do this because it looks like a ton of fun.

xD Great one google has created here. I love the hunt and how it looks. I don't think it is possible to find all 150. But it could be possible if you look like everywhere..

mourinhosgum : O_o

Must have been pretty hard and quick though.I am going to try this for myself and find at least 5! I'm wishing good luck for myself on that.

Still a very good April Fools thingy.

It only took me about an hour to find 49 Pokemon, and that was with my phone constantly freezing all of the time because it sucks. I'm sure if I devoted a few more hours I could find the rest of them. I'm sure I could probably also cheat by searching online because someone has certainly posted the location of all the Pokemon by now. But that's no fun.

They seem to be located at major landmarks around the world. I found Pokemon at the Giza Pyramids, Old Faithful, The Empire State Building, Mount Everest, and so on...

Google is pretty good at doing pranks. Does anyone remember YouTube's "TEXTp" resolution? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFwaV-0XZvc

Or Google Maps for NES? That one was really good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rznYifPHxDg

MysteriousPanzer : As of this post it's still going. If you touch the search icon a text field-like thing will appear right under it. The pokeball is on the very left side, right under the search icon. It's a small, blue outline drawing of it. Nothing fancy like a real picture of one. Touch that and you'll be taken to the Google headquarters where you'll see a bunch of Pokemon everywhere. Touch them and at the bottom of the screen touch "catch", and you'll get it. Then look all over the world for the rest.

Think of any landmarks, great cities or geographical features you've ever learned during your lifetime. As Zurenriri mentioned, common places like Mount Everest or Empire State building are a good start. There are few you may not have heard of, like the Burj Khalifa in Dubia, and Skytree in Japan. I even thought back to the SNES game Illusion of Gaia for ideas and managed to find Pokemon at Angkor Wat and the Nazca Lines in Peru.

Ah I heard about this. Unfortunately I don't have any device that can run the portable Google maps so I can't really help in terms of locating Pokémon. Is it as fun as everyone was making it out to be?
