So I have been searching for a free game I can play on steam.  With my netbook that is hard to do.  I finally found Mabinogi which works perfectly since it has a small enough screen size.

This mmorpg is open ended in where you can choose what ever skills you want to learn.  You do choose a 'class' at the start but that is to just give you free skills to help you at the start.  Every rebirth allows you to get new skills.  Every day till you accumulate 300 levels you can rebirth so it's easy to figure out what you want to be.

You don't just fight in this game.  You can make music, farm, make cloths/armor/weapons, fish, become a vendor, do alchemy, learn magic, explore under ground ruins.  There is so much you can do!  There are so many ways to learn combat through use of magic, melee, archery, and transformations.  If you have spare money to devote to the game you can get pets to help you out.

Biggest tip is start human this way you can get 2 other character creation cards later  to make a giant and elf!

deg2000 : Servers on that game would not work very well.  You need a LARGE community to make everything work.  You need a lot of people selling items, specifying in different skills like enchanting, forging, cooking, tailoring, farming, tanking, and other things.  With a small server you can't get what you need to play in that game.

The one thing I don't like about the game so far is the download. It's a small game, but it takes so long. Usually the other games take less than 30 minutes, but this has been going for motre than 2 hours so far.

Are you talking about the steam download?  Or the patching?

The steam download took me 30 mins.  Patching took me around 2 hours.  It goes through a lot to patch.

LCRain : On my computer, the download was like 4 hours and the patching was much longer.....

We need to get more people interested in this game.

Also anyone who joins the server I am in I will try to get you some extra stuff like a cloak, second sword for dual blade, and if I have the money a small money pouch to free up your space.  Sorry I can't afford more but making gold is hard so at least you will have some better equips then what you start with.

Mabinogi is not availabe in my geographical region.

I do most of my gaming on a Chromebook, and it doesn't have near the graphical power to run this, or even the proper operating system.  If I'm going to get involved in this game, I'd probably need to play it on more than weekends.  But I'll give it a try sometime.  It looks really good, and I was impressed by the reviews.
