I, for the most part, like a broad variety of games. Games can interest me and range anywhere from shooters, such as Killzone, all the way to rhythm games, such as Hatsune Miku. I generally do not dislike games, unless they are in a topic that I am totally uninterested in, have shoddy gameplay, or are an all around mess of a game. My least favorite genres are sports games and fighting games (usually, but for fighting games, it is more of on a case to case basis). So, without further ado, what is your least favorite video game genre?

sop281 : I have a very similar taste of video game genres. While I play many different genres from Adventure to Racing to Platformers to Shooters, the Sports genre doesn't really interest me much.
I rarely like sports games and when I happen to really like one of them, I wouldn't play it very long, since it always gets too repetitive and boring after a while for me.

Sports games, NHL's, FIFA's, basketballs etc.. and most of the racing games are pretty boring too.

My least favorite video game genre is First Person Shooters. The video game market is just so flooded with them, 9 out of 10 games that come out seem to be FPS and a good 4th of those have zombies. I am sick of hearing about FPS and don't want any part of it. I do enjoy Doom though.

I don't really like sports games but I am not into sports so I can't complain too much about that.

I'll have to agree with Genesis on this one. FPS are one of my least favorites, as they make up far too much of the game industry right now.

My least favorite might also be puzzle games, as I don't really care for any puzzle games except Wetrix. Although I don't really care for any FPS much...Okay it's probably FPS then Puzzle as a close second.

And now Eirinn will stop arguing with himself openly.


EDIT: I forgot about tornament fighters! Easily my most hated genre. My main problems with them are:

1. The fact that modern titles are more about entering strings of input commands than they are about fighting. "Press: Fwd, Fwd, Dwn, HK, MP, Up," and twenty other buttons. When they started doing that stuff, it quit being about timing and such, and started being about who could input a combo command the fastest. Some of the games even let you defeat your opponent with one of these combo commands.

2. The special move inputs. Three to five button combos to do one special attack? The result is my guy looking like he's doing some Hip Hop dance moves before he throws a fireball, whereas the computer can stand perfectly still and throw ten fireballs in a row without moving. Or better yet, "hold LK and DWN for two seconds to throw a fireball" but the computer can throw them without a moments pause? Cheap.

puzzle games are boring, unless they have combat (aka RPGs), I like FPS games (just because it's mainstream, doesn't mean it can't be good) and I play madden and NBA games.

Meekymilly : FPS aren't mainstream, they are the whole dang stream. I didn't like the genre to begin with and after years of hearing people gush over halo stuff like that it has just left a bitter taste in my mouth about the whole genre.

I like some puzzle games pretty good but most are over my head or too boring.

I love one Tournament Fighter series, Tekken. Tekken just sums up my middle school years. All that me and my buddy played for years was Tekken games, but I stink at most other Tournament Fighters so I don't play them often.

I don't like sports games at all they really bore me. sitting down and controlling a guy with a socor ball or shooting some hoops seem really boring to me. I would rather just go outside and do those things then just do them video game wise. I don't like racing game either all you do is try to get to 1st place. The only racing game I do like is mario kart. that's just really fun I don't know why.

Sport games including anything to do with racing plus all games ever which requires playing online.

I don't like the sports genre. If I wanted to play sports, I could gather up my friends and play sports. Though, I am actually fine with unrealistic sports games, which are usually flash games.

sop281 : raceing is my least favorite genere of video games i just never got it,i just really hate raceing with cars its just too bland with the exeption of split second thats a raceing game with a twist its pretty awesome.

sop281 : sports, rpg. that is it. i like most game genres. i ESPECIALLY like rhythym games like guitar hero.

I just don't like the FPS genre at all. I just don't like standing there and shooting stuff. The closest I've ever gotten to owning one was either Cave Story (Which is the only shooter I like right now), or Link's Crossbow Training (which is REALLY kind of bland...)

So I guess what's left out in the bunch is Sports games. I do enjoy the occaisional Trials type game, skateboarding game and even racing game, but I just do not click with traditional sports games like NBA, FIFA or NFL games. They do nothing short of oversaturating the market like annualfirst person shooters do, but I can pick up any first person shooter and have some form of fun with them, I can't say the same for sports.

My least favourite video game genre is shooting. Because my reactions are so slow, I couldn't fire a NPC. Unless it's on lock-on mode. Everyone's so fast when you play online, and there's me, where is he/she? Oh.... I'm already dead.

The only video game genre I don't like is fighting games. I guess I don't like them because of the people that play them, because in games like MK or SC where you're SUPPOSED to be using combo's everyone either mashes buttons or uses one annoying move.

I love the Cid Meier's Civilization -series, but apart from it I hate turn-based strategy games. I know that they can be extremely addicting and loads of fun, but I hate the genre because I suck at the games so much that I can't even find words to describe my suckiness. This is not even a joke but guess who gets stuck in the first stage of FF Tactics? None other than me. I feel my gamer ego shattering every time I play a TBS-game and that's the reason I like the genre the least.
