In April, we were hoping to have a review competition, but for now, we also wanted to start up a mini posting competition in order to draw attention to the forum and we wanted to know what you guys think?

Do you think it would be a good idea? Do you have any ideas and suggestions on how an organized contest should run? Such as rules and how we enforce these rules. All appropriate ideas will be looked over, thank you for the support.

Ia this just for the mods or is this for everyone to post in? Anyway, I don't think posting competitions are a good idea for one forum. It is just screaming spam. I like the idea of a review competition though, just be sure to look over the reviews and make sure they aren't plagiarized.

We do plan on setting up a strict set of rules and on actually enforcing them. But it's going to be very small most likely, perhaps a maximum post count of 5-10 per day for points. DQ's, and such.

I think the best way to gain more attention is too have good variety of different threads. Instead of just what is your favourite (item/character/map) in (insert  game here).
I don't want this forum to be known as a forum full of spammers by this posting competition.

mourinhosgum : It's still going to take some time though, for the variety to kick in. Once more people become interested in the forum, more ideas and suggestions would be suggested. The contest would just be a way to get people involved and for them to see what the forum is like.

zanderlex : I agree with tgags.  A posting competition before we have our feet on the ground will tempt people to spam.  We need to have more threads, good threads that are universal to all Steam users.  mourinhosgum's "Achievement Hunters" shows potential for this, should it become a bit more general, my Trades thread almost fits the category, but few Steam users on Vizzed seem to trade outside of the Vizzed Market, and no other non-stickies show as much potential for discussion as of yet.  Two threads with little spam potential is very low for a competition.

edit: I neglected to take into account that a lot of people play TF2, sorry about that.  What I guess I meant is we need more unique threads that most Steam users on Vizzed can fall into AKA those that can create their own sub-forum.  I lumped all the TF2 threads into one category, considering all the threads together one unique sub-forum, in a sense.

I'll be busy thinking up new ideas for threads if you want to do it this month, but I highly suggest against it.

If anything a forum specific posting competition is the last thing you want to be doing.. All you are encouraging is spammy posts that have no thought or meaning to them at all.

You could do a competition based on something simple like... what's the rarest steam achievement you have? Or something else that will actively make posters try and achieve something other than spam.
