Normally I'd be disappointed with only 2 submissions but since this is a hard game, having 2 submissions is pretty impressive.

Congrats nguyenminhthien86! It takes so much dedication and outright skill to beat this game. When rcarter2 first beat it I tried so hard to pass level 6 without save states but I had to give up because it was consuming me. For this month's competition, I decided that getting to the end completely powered up was simply not an option for me as I die too frequently. So I spent probably 8 hours training on how to recover everywhere I could potentially die. On the 27th I saw the potential for me to muscle through the end even with many deaths so yesterday I went for it. The stretch in my video starting at 47:37 is probably the craziest thing I ever did in a video game. I didn't train that much for the last boss because I didn't expect to get there on that run. My heart was literally pounding as I was aware that I could potentially beat this thing. But somehow I managed to calm myself down and get it done. I feel like I can die a happy gamer now. However, I'm not quite done with Aldynes yet!

Congrats to the winners. I remember playing this game for the highscore competition before. Definitely not an easy game! I don't believe I ever made it past the third stage.

jerryaberry : Yes, I can sympathize. My heart starts racing if I'm nearing the end of a good speedrun. Though, it usually makes me play worse. . .

jerryaberry : Man, the presence of mind you showed at 48:40 or so and throughout the rest of that mini-boss(?) fight was unbelievable. It's videos like that one that make people like me step back and realize that we aren't nearly the gamer that we thought we were. lol That was a great show of skill, man.

to be honest I don't think space shooters are made for speed runs, which is why speed runners never do spaceshooters. Instead spaceshooters are better for high score comps so maybe do r type and gradius games for high score comps and all other non auto scrollers for speed runs
