It's a live stream of one of the original pokemon games (not sure if it's red or blue) where the controls are input as comments by viewers. You say left, right, up, down, b, a or, if you're one of those people, start. Essentially the goal is to have 40,000+ (right now there are about 75,000 viewers) work together to complete the game. They have to deal with good natured people, spammers, trolls, and a delay between the chat and their input being read by the script that was written for this.

I think it's a lot of fun to check back and see how they've progressed after some time and to hear about what's been done, especially after watching them get stuck in a spot that it looks like they'll never make it through. It's not much fun to just watch for too long, though.

Has anyone else seen this at all?

So far I've seen them get trapped in TR headquarters and nothing else. NO PROGRESS IN 7 HOURS! xD

Yeah, they're having a rough time. They were stuck on route 9 for even longer, though, and when they finally did make it out they got fainted and had to do it again.

I'm enjoying going back to it to check on them, but I'll probably start giving them a little more time. It's chaos right now.

But there's another one going on that tallies button presses to give people more control and stop the pause spamming. Hopefully it'll pick up and compete with the other stream, so it gets more interesting. Right now there are only a few hundred people. http://www.twitch.tv/twitchplayspokemonyellow

Yeah, the second one I linked is more interesting to watch right now. The other one has a much better story so far, though, so it'll probably be more fun to keep up with.

This as bad as it is, is also hilarious. They are slowly progressing (Very slowly) but at least there is some. I cant wait for the walk to the Pokémon league. If down goes off once we have to walk the longest ledge in the game again, if we fail in victory road we will have to do that ledge again. It is going to be a nightmare.

A few people at my university were watching and were on the side of anarchy. I prefer democracy.  Democracy imposed by force ftw!

I much prefer anarchy. Seeing them get further in the game after watching them walk in circles, seemingly incapable of accomplishing the simplest task, is a lot more exciting. I'd rather have a separate stream for democracy than to change things up. Plus, with democracy I don't think we end up with some of the things that make the stream so great. Like the entire Eevee debacle. Of course, with how things were going in Team Rocket's base, we'd have to be pretty patient waiting for fewer people to take part in it before much happened.
