No. I don't think salt is needed on pastas unless you're cooking them. What I put with my pasta depends on what type of pasta it is. Fettuccine for example, I add white wine sauce or Alfredo sauce if available. If it isn't, butter is a good substitute.

Spaghetti, I of course put tomato sauce but add a bit of crumbling cheese and sour cream.

Salt ruins the taste for me. It's more like cockroaches on mustard. No offence. I hate salt with Pasta, I just like the regular version of Pasta much better. The regular version tastes great.

I sometimes have to eat it with salt though but I don't complain or do anything about it.

Most of us consume enough salt in the things we eat, so I don't think we really need to put it on pasta (or in the water used to boil the pasta).
