I have to confess I have never played a pokemon title before.I would like to see what all the commotion has been about over the years and would love it if anyone could tell me the best title to get into .Thanks!

golgo 14 : I have played almost every Pokemon game, a good one to start out in is leaf green/fire red (GBA). It has good graphics, a good story, and the Pokemon are better, and it's easy to play and follow. The old ones are better than the new ones I feel. So I prefer the GBA ones over the DS ones. If you don't wanna play that one, another good one is emerald. It has a totally different story, and totally different set of Pokemon. But I think leaf green would be better to start out with.

XxLittlexZxX : I'm going to have to second this. The first pokemon games I played were fire red and leaf green, and they were actually really easy to understand and get into. It shouldn't take too long to become acquainted with the system, and I too prefer the GBA games to the DS versions, however, I still can't get into the old GB and GBC games. Other than that, not much to worry about, they are all pretty similar and it shouldn't be too difficult to start out with any game really.

Most people playd Emerald first it is also one ofthe most popular ones accrding to RGR. You might find a hack of emerald like Platinum to be superior in some ways.

If you start with 3rd gen go with either ruby or sapphire as emerald is probably the hardest Pokemon games.

I have and beat the original Red. It was pretty easy to say. I was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY underleveled (lv 40s at the champion) and still beat the champ, so I think it's easy. By the way, I didn't pick Charmander.

Though, I would suggest playing one from the 3rd Generation or above, say like Emerald or FireRed Version. While lots of people talk about how great the originals are, and while there's lots of nostalgia attached to them, they're actually pretty glitchie & the battle system's kinda broken. 3rd Gen and afterwards really improved upon that.

sop281 : the only old GB or GBC games I played and liked was Gold/Silver. It's a little different from the GBA games like Leaf Green, but I still prefer Leaf Green better. It's easier to follow, and the graphics are better. Good chose in choosing Leaf Green Golgotha 14
