Well, here is the first "real" part of my story! It's also my 101th post (yay?). Now, if you really want to read this story, make sure to read the prologue first!

Part 1 - Rudolph
21 March, 2014
New York City, USA

"Get back here, you're dead meat!"
Rudolph weaved through the densly packed trees with masterful precision. His persuers were not as skilled, and only one got out of the forest. But the one who lasted was Wolf, the fastest and most agile of them all, and without trees or other humans getting in the way, he managed to get an edge on Rudolph....... and pounced. Now with his prey lying defenseless on the pavement, Wolf went to work.
"Give me the money...", he took out a pocket knife "or else....."
In a desperate voice, rudolph replied:
"i..... i haven't your money. I don't know what you're talking about."
Wolf pressed the knife against Rudolph's neck. But it was all a trap. Wolf had let his side guard down. With a swift punch to the ribcage, Wolf was on the ground, wimpering in pain. He could do nothing else now. Rudolph picked up his bags, and started to walk home.

Rudolph was seen by many as the oddball classmate. He was 13 years old, and yet only 4'8. Strange, especially when considering his mom and dad were 6'8 and 6'9, respectively. But that wasn't the only thing people thought was odd with rudolph. He had a passion for engineering, mechanics, physics, and all branches of mathematics. But he also held a great love for history and geography, something that proved useful and would prove useful on many occasions. He preformed so well in school that he skipped a grade......... four grades, actually. Today was the day he recieved his first grade 12 report card, and he was highly anticipating getting home and having a look. Once he was outside his parent's house, he looked at the nearby newspaper stand, expecting the headlines to announce something boring like a fair or something. Instead, he found, typed in huge bold letters:
OBJECT SPOTTED ON MOON: OFFICIALS SAY IT'S A MOON BASE
This certainly piqued rudolph's interests. He dashed into the house and turned on the TV.

Every local, national, and international news provider was reporting the same thing.
"......Astronomers at NASA have discovered what many experts are labeling a moonbase."
"...... Certainly the largest man-made object ever to be on the moon."
"...... He's passed it to Crosby, he's making a shot, he sho-", "Oh wait, that's ESPN." Rudolph stated just as he turned to CNN. Just then, his mother strolled through the door.
"Vat are you vatching?" Even 25 years after fleeing the Soviet Union as a child, her acccent was unchanged.
"Just watching the news. Did you hear about the moon base?"
"Yes, i have. I watch the news too, you know."
Then the TV rang out behind them:
"We've just recieved information that the rover that was to land on the moon in july is, is going to land in a different spot, it's going to land on the plain where the moon base is, just about a mile north. Yeah, this rover is equipped with sort of, like, arms that will allow it to manipulate objects and open doors."
Now, Rudolph was really excited. He was reading a lot of books on the third reich and the USSR and had a theory that either the Nazi's or the soviets set up a moon base. People laughed when he told them his theory. They said he needed to get his head out of the clouds. But now, he might actually be proven right!

Later that night, the family was eating dinner. Rudolph was an only child, so there was no one he could cause a ruckus with, not that he would ever want to do that anyway. Usually the only questions asked were "How was your day" and "Do you like your food?". this day much the same happened. Rudolph and his parents looked at the report card. All A's. Rudolphs food was very good. Mashed potatos with potatos. But something happened at the end of dinner time that rudolph didn't expect. His mom put away everyones food, and then looked at her son.
"Rudolph, me and your father have been considering a vacation. How does Russia sound?"
Rudolph rolled his eyes. "You mean Moscow?"
"No Rudolph, not this time. Ve vill go to St. petersburg, Moscow, Murmansk, and volgograd!"
"Why volgograd? Can't we go to Vladivostok or Yakutsk?
"Well.......... I haven't told you much about our family history. We are going to russia to remember those who died in the eastern front of world war II."
"Yes, and what does that have to do with family history?" Rudolph edged closer to his mother.
"My grandfather, your great-grandfather fought in Stalingrad. On the last day of the battle, he left his tent to find the source of an german radio transmission. He never returned. Ve vill be going to volgograd to remember those who died, just like my grandfather."
"OK, why did you not tell me that before?"
"I thought it vasn't necessary."
"Fair enogh. When are we going?"
That question was answered by his father.
"Ve leave 1 of august for Moscow. Then ve go to Leningrad on ze eight. Next ve go to Murmansk on 17. Finally ve head to Stalingrad on 23rd. Ve head back home on 19th of september."
"Why are we spending so much time in Russia, especially Volgograd? Isn't that going to cut into my university schedule?"
"Don't worry" Mother answered "Ve have arranged for you to start later. Your intellectual capabilities have not gone unnoticed."
"Very well. This better not be like last time!"
"I already told you, honey, i didn't know she was going to turn left!"
Rudolph retired to the confines of his room. It was a friday, so rather than sleep, he read. He read all about world war II. He read Russian perspectives, german perspectives, british perspectives, even laotian perspectives. Besides first-person details, he read about the science involved in the war, the weapons, the tactics, and everything affecting them. Finally, when it was 2:30 and he decided to stop reading, he put his books aside, and rested.

23 August 2014
Volgograd, Russia

Rudolph was a polyglot. He understood many languages, many obscure. He knew english, french, german, italian, latin, serbian, spanish, portuguese, and many, many more. But a language that evaded him was Russian. The language spoken by his parents and the main language of the nation he was in, he could not comprehend. So when the boy and his parents were separated in a crowded airport, things got a little crazy.......
"Da,da, i...i je rudolph...... parents.... you see parents?"
A bearded man behind him took notice of him.
"Oi, just speak english, would ya?"
"Oh, thank you sir, um, have you seen my parents?"
"You talking about Frankenstein and his pet giraffe? Cause they just walked by." The man then laughed loudly and obnoxiously. But in just a second, Rudolph had the man pinned down with a knee in his crotch. He continued to beat the man, to rousing applause until his parents located him and whisked him away. Once they reached the car that they had rented, the trio drove towards their hotel.
"Honey, vhy vould you do that?" His mother asked with an angry tone.
"He called you guys names. And besides, it was certainly more exciting than sitting in an orthodox church for 12 hours a day!"
After slapping her son across the face, Mother said that he should never talk back to his parents. Upon arriving at the hotel, Rudolphs dad said that he was free to go to the former battlefields outside town and play while he and his wife attended to other matters. Despite his intelligence, Rudolph still had a soft spot for play. He was so excited that it took him untill 4:00 to get to sleep. What he didn't expect would happen, however was that he would find something the next day that would change the course of history......
