Hey everyone! Boxia here! Today i've decided to try something other than a review. That's right, today, i'll be writing a story. This story is about a kid who finds a super-weapon on vacation and gets a little greedy with it. Now, i'll start with a prologue, and keep in mind that no such super-weapon exists....... probably. This part will be a lot shorter than following parts. All critism is appreciated!
Prologue:
2 february, 1943.
Stalingrad, USSR
Through his binoculars, he saw the soviet flag waving over the central plaza. The soilders name was Gunther, a tall man, about 28-years old. He immediatly reported to his superior officer, who was in a nearby tent.
"Won, they have won!"
"I know that, you fool!" the officer replied angrily. "We were never going to win. Why operation Barbarossa was even launched is a mystery to me." he said as he collapsed onto a nearby couch, looking defeated and desperate.
"But i remember 1941." Gunther replied, suprised "You were convinced that we were to win, that we were to defeat the communist menace that is the soviet union. Where has that spirit gone?"
"It was for morales sake, i never wanted to lead my platoon into this, this death trap!''
Suddenly, Gunther's face turned red, and his suprise turned to anger.
"YOU LIED FOR THE SAKE OF MORALE?!?!" He said as he grabbed his officer by the throat and started to choke him, "THE VERY REASON WE LOST WAS BECAUSE OF COWARDS LIKE YOU! I TRIED TO DO MY SHARE, BUT I COULDN'T TAKE DOWN THE WHOLE SOVIET ARMY ALONE, COULD I? COULD I?"
As he finished, he noticed the officer was a little purple in the face. Since Gunther was the officers second-in-command, he was now the platoons leader.
The very moment Gunther collected his thoughts, a fellow soldier by the name of hans ran in.
"Sir, the soviets have..." His fixed his gaze on his now-dead commanding officer, and then quickly turned to look at Gunther.
"I'm in charge now, Hans. Where's the rest of the platoon?"
"Dead, sir."
"Very well, we must fall back, and rebuild our forces!"
"Actually, sir, i just got off the radio with Manstein. He said we have authorization to use the Wunderwaffe."
"I never even knew that existed. Are you lying to me?"
"No, sir. He said it's in the cave nearby, it's on tracks. If we can configue it, we can rid the city of all troops in a flash!"
"Again, you sure you're not just crazy?"
"Sir,no,sir!"
"Well then, let's get-"
His speech was interrupted by a strange falling noise.
"Do you hear that? It sounds like-"
BOOM!!!!!!!
The artillery shell ripped through the tent like fabric, annilating it's occupants and everything in it....... except for the radio.
"Hello? Is anyone there? We tuned in just in time to hear an explosion. Please respond! Are you ali-"
He didn't have time to finish his sentence before another shell destroyed the radio. A few moments later, a Soviet troop came to the site of the former camp.
"Tsk,tsk, tsk. Always turn on your coder before you talk. And they call US inexperienced" he laughed heartily.
"Now, where's that weapon?"
It wasn't difficult to find the cave. It also wasn't difficult to bypass the guards, all of whom had been called to the surface and were quickly murdered. After passing through a long tunnel with rails on the floor, he came to a small room with explosives. He swung open the doors leading to the next room, where he found his prize.
"Wonderful. But how do i opperate it?"
He had been a military engineer before the war and found his skills useful during it. He discovered its trigger behind a weak padlock. His curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to pull the trigger, foolishly beliveing that it was disarmed.
He was wrong. The machine sprang to life. Its gun pointed towards the ceiling. The ceiling then opened, revealing the night sky.
"Settings, Eliminate troops only. Area registered. Firing in 10,9,8.."
He stared at the screen that was displaying the target area. He figured out too late that the area was the room with the weapon. He tried hastily to stop the firing, but it was to late.
"3,2,1,0, fireing!"
In an instant, the soilder was gone. So brilianty designed, the weapon, that it made no noise and emitted no light. The weapon reset itself, and shut off. It did, however, close with a click powerful enough to shake the cave. Near the entrance, a boulder hanged precariously. It fell the next second, and rolled in front of the entrance.
For more than 70 years, the cave and everything hidden in it remained undisturbed. It was presumed destroyed by the Germans, who burned all files pertaining to it in case it wasn't destroyed and some one went looking for it. Those who knew about it either kept quiet or were executed. Now, it was the subject of urban myths that were quickly disregarded due to lack of evidence. But seven decades later, a kid would find it. What happend after would change the lives of many.....
