For me..i alway play offline because theres a huge chance i will lose....very quickly. I was never good playing the game.

Well occasionally I do play offline, practising before going into online matches. But I do play online mostly because that is really the point of Call of Duty, but I only ever play Infected, Domination and Team Death Match.

If I ever play this game which I rarley do I always play offline.. I have a bad interent connection and usually the only time I play it is if I am at my cousins house.. offline is better in my opinion anyways.. but online gives it more varity and fun.. one day I should try to play online more I guess.

I go online. 
It is Call of Duty, almost no effort was put into the actual game (campaign). The dialog is unlistenable and the gameplay takes almost no stragegy when in Veteran, you only have to go into cover and shoot, the AI are noobs. 

I hardly play online either since the community is bad. You get people playing songs down the mic, trolls and of course rage quiters. Also I am crap at Call of Duty Ghosts. I guess it is because I have been playing a lot of Halo between my last CoD game which was World at War I think.

I don't play too much, only at friends house. I only have the T ones at home. (1,2,3) So I only play the others at a friends house. That means I am not all that good. But last time I played, I had made enough progress that we went online. I didn't do too great.

Online play is better for me. Offline is really easy. Even Zombies I find to be boring. (Or Extinction, Survival depending on CoD.) The only reason I play offline is 1) to replay a moment of the game I just find to be really epic. Or 2) to put on Veteran difficulty and just practice a little. And I rarely do number two. Offline has no variety, no impending challenge. When you go online, however, you have smart opponents. You have to watch out as they try to snipe you through every open window, run when they throw a grenade in that house you were just in, watch the flanks of your spawn in point. You see what I mean? If you want to get every last drop of difficulty you can from these games, you go to Mulitiplayer. Granted, it does have its issues, such as squeakers and trolls. But just ignore them, mute them, and play on.
