Personally I think that you should play through XIII before 2, because it's always better to focus on one game at a time, else you can become easily distracted.

It depends if you want to play the game. Tails is right play XIII first to see if you like it or not some people do and some don't but,the gameplay of it is amazing. So I suggest too that you should give it a try. ^^
