So I've started doing my 40 volounteer hours I need to graduate and it's taking a while because I can only fit in about 2 hours a week so I only get about 8 or more hours a month. It's not the worst job though I just help put away the electrical equipment and stuff at my school like soldering irons. I was just wondering if anyone has done their 40 hours yet and how they did it.

Okay, so I'm guessing that the 40 hours are to graduate this year, not by the time you finish 12th.

I completed over 100 hours of community service this school year, no joke. My secret? Summers!

I can't emphasize enough the importance of summers when it comes to community service. Just help out at a camp and you can get 40 in a week. Or like me, you like volunteering at the camp so much that you do it for 2.5 weeks.

When I do Community Service during the school year, I find it's much harder and seemingly more time consuming to spend just a few hours. I have done more then 16 hours of community service so far during the school year. It was fun, too. I volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. For the first one I spent 8 hours and for the second I spent 5 hours. Both were on Saturdays that I had nothing else going on, so it wasn't that big of a hassle.

Hope that helped. And remember to use your summer for next year's 40 hours, if possible!

Oh, I remember that being implemented a year after I graduated high school. So I never got to do it.

It sounds like fun, though. What do you do in your volunteer work?

When I was in college I had to have 60 hours of community service to graduate. How I did it was I broke it down did a few hours per week. For example one week I did 5 hours. My advice would be to plane it out make a schedule that way you will not get bombarded at the last minute. My college was a Christian University so I was able to get mine in through a church. Hope this helps

It looks like you're in either 9th or 10th so you have plenty of time. Relax. You're not procrastinating.

You could also use winter breaks and spring breaks. They also have week-long camps that I've volunteered at.

Anyway, I stick to what I said before. The easiest way is to tackle them all at once. I do smaller ones, now, too. But at least I'm not under the pressure of the number of house I need in total.
