In my original thread Suggested controller, I was asking about computer controllers and a program that could convert to keyboard so that I could play keyboard-controlled games. Since then I was able to get an Xbox 360 and a wired 360 controller. Just a couple days ago, I found JoyToKey ( aka joy2koy) and started tinkering.
With the 360, it doesn't recognize the triggers(as far as I can tell) but it recognizes everything else as far as I've noticed. With it, you can set a button to a single key (like Spacebar to the 'A') or a string of characters or you can control the mouse (move the mouse cursor, click the left/middle/right buttons and scroll the mouse wheel).
So if this helps someone or gives someone a new toy to tinker with, then cool.
