When it comes to real life friends, do you consider yourself to be a person who would like to have a lot of friends that are not as close, or a small group of close friends?

For me, it actually depends. I do have a lot of friends that I know and they know me and if I have questions or I know someone who is an expert at something, we can easily ask each other stuff, but there are also specific friends that I am really close to and that we talk the most and share our laughter and struggles the most. If I have to pick one, I would definitely be a close friends type of person.

I'm going with both.  I have several very close friends and many acquaintances bordering on good friends.  My job is highly visible to the public and I get a regular group of a few hundred people in every day.  Imagine me like a bartender at Cheers.  They know my name, I know theirs.  I know where everyone went to school, what football teams they like, what they eat, their kids, and I get to see families grow and develop.  It's very unique and it makes me happy.  I go out with a dozen different people for sports, for beer and drinks, to see movies, and do other activities.

I have all sorts of good, close friends, and I know many more whom I consider 'friends,' but are not super close.  Count me in for both.

Hmm....for me would be close friends I think. Because I am not good with a lot of people so...I think I have some that I am close too. But, its really hard to be sure. As I don't have many friends at all, in real life....

"Lots of friends" (Facebook style) doesn't give out much in my life. I've considerably shrunk that list with time and kept only people I physically know (with very few exceptions).

I prefer quality to quantity

I have a small amount of real friends. I am friends with about 8 people and they are all really close. You can tell that about my friends list All of them are close to me (Except for those few)

I think there should be a balance, but putting an emphasis one have GOOD friends is more important than MANY. Quality > Quantity.

That being said, it's good to have a handful of good friends instead of only one or two; why? If something happens between you and a friend, or they change, or move away, or die... at least you have others to spend time with.

I like to have a small group of friends that I'm close to. And I do. But I still consider more than a dozen other classmates that I meet on a daily basis to be my friends as well. I think that personal connection is needed with a few friends so that both of you can reciprocate when either needs help.

On here, I don't know many people yet so I add anyone who adds me. I bet that once I get to know my current friends better I'll downsize my friends list.

I would rather have a few close friends than a lot of distant friends. I prefer quality over quantity.

I definitely prefer having a few close friends rather than a lot of friends that I'm not all that close to. Me and my buddies are a very tight knit group and none of us really have a lot of friends outside of our little group. 

Of course I'd prefer the small group of close friends, but the sad truth is, I have the opposite. Well, right now in real life, that is. Maybe one day that will change.

Still, it's very useful to have a network of friends. Even if they aren't close. They really help you out in ways that close friends sometimes can't.

I prefer a small group of close friends (who i would actually have conversation with) inside of a lot of friends who i barely know and could most likely be bad people....and theres some people you really shouldnt be assoiated with.

I'm a close friends kind of person. The bonds are stronger and you only have to remember a few names.

I prefer close friends. As of late I've only been with close friends since I really don't have the need to be open at the moment. People that I am not really close to in real life ... Sadly it's for something for my gain. It's just the way I am. I don't even consider them as friends. Acquaintances sure but not friends.

I would say close friends, because if you have a lot of bad friends it ends bad. Yet, with close friends its easier to know how they are and not get caught in with the wrong crowd.

I prefer close friends. I've never really been a big "People Person". But I do like having a few people around that I know I like being with.

Gotta go with the majority here and say close friends.

No use being friends with people who don't mix with your personality. It's honestly better to just stick to people who are honest, and actually care about you.

I have lots of friends that I'm not so close with, but I could easily chat or hang out with them without any awkward moments. However, I also have what I consider my inner circle of friends and we know one another very well. I could call those three at like 4am for help and they'd literally come over if I ask them to. If I'd really have to choose, I'll pick my closest friends even though there are only a few them than a bunch of friends that are not as close, but I'd rather keep both groups as both are important to me. There are times when I prefer to be all alone as well, which might explain why I keep on getting 50/50 (introvert/extrovert section)during personality tests(legit tests conducted with one of the psychologists offering services in the school hospital). We are required to take that test every year and then show the results to the faculty's guidance counselor one-by-one.
