Chapter
Seven: Jerry and Chiko

        After landing from Lysandre Café
literally one second before it was blown to bits, a tired and breathless Serena
looked up at her savior. “Jerry?!” It was a tall, pale man in a red suit,
specifically the Team Flare Grunt uniform, and red goggles. Also, his hair was
red, and, on one side, it was balled up by gel into the shape of a cream puff.
He was wearing black gloves, and he looked like your typical agent, except
everything was red. He was no different than the other male Team Flare Grunts
except for the big, white ‘J’ stitched into his top, and his excessively mean
and outgoing attitude. Calem looked surprised, and NintendoFanKimmy and
greenluigi hadn’t had a clue to what was going on. “Look, here, Mr. Fabulous,
just who the heck are you, and what is your problem?” asked Calem. Just as
Jerry was about to answer, NintendoFanKimmy asked more or less the same
question. “Who’s Jerry?” asked Kimmy. “He’s a rival, as I run into him a lot,
and a Team Flare Grunt, too,” answered Serena. “Ex- Team Flare Grunt,”
corrected Jerry. “I know we’re supposed to hate each other, Serena, and be at
each other’s throats, but I’ve decided about a minute ago, when I saved you, to
quit Team Flare. Lysandre was a jerk, and he never gave me my paycheck when it
was due. Also, he treated us like scum, and I can’t believe I paid five million
Pokédollars just to join. Although, it was a ticket to tomorrow, I guess… The
world was about to end every life aside from us. Well, I’m rambling. Anyway,
Calem, Serena, you kids should go home. It isn’t safe here anymore.” Calem and
Serena nodded. “Okay.” Then, they both ran off to Vaniville Town, their
hometown. “Wait!” called Kimmy, grabbing Serena’s arm. “There was a reason we
were looking for you in the first place. We wanted to borrow your Yveltal and
fly to the Kanto region, where it’s peaceful and more quiet.” Looking sorry,
Serena shook her head. “I’m sorry. But no can do. Yveltal isn’t tame, which is
why I’m keeping it in its Pokéball. It’s likely to kill you,” she said
surprisingly calmly. Wide-eyed, NintendoFanKimmy and greenluigi looked at each
other. “Uh… okay.” Then, after a farewell and ‘good luck out there’, the two
Pokémon Trainers ran to their homes. Kimmy and green turned to Jerry. “I’d
liked to join you guys,” he said suddenly, surprising the Vizzed rookies.
“Why?” asked greenluigi, suspicious that he didn’t really quit his ways.
“You’ll find out in the end,” he answered, without a hint of guilt or trickery
in his voice. Kimmy, for some reason, trusted him and sensed he was innocent.
“Fine. You can come with us. Three travelers on a journey are better than two.”
She and green still preferred to travel with someone else who they trusted
more, like A user of this, who was travelling in the opposite direction as they
were, pursuing the same goal. Or Matthew231, who hadn’t left Vizzed so he could
stay and protect games and items in the Retro Game Room and Item Shop from
being hacked or stolen. Or Mr. Zed, who had saved greenluigi from falling to
his death while climbing the city gate. All of these users whom they had
befriended in their time on Vizzed were great inspirations, and thinking of
them got NintendoFanKimmy and greenluigi’s hopes back up. They went on to
explain to Jerry the story of Xavier, Zoey, and Hailey, the XZH hack, and how
they were planning on stopping it. The Ex- Team Flare grunt praised their lofty
and noble goals, and decided to join them. The only thing they left out was
that poor Jerry, along with any other bad guys, even if they did change their
ways, would be lifeless once everything was over. Kimmy and green felt horrible
keeping this to themselves, but what Jerry didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him.
“Let’s go!” said greenluigi cheerfully. NintendoFanKimmy put her hand on his
shoulder, stopping him in the middle of his jump. “You need to relax,” she told
him. “We can’t just say ‘let’s go!’ every time. We need to think things through
and plan out carefully. Now, let’s see. Apparently, we have a change of plans,
and we’re not going to Kanto, as Serena’s Yveltal is something we can’t get.
So, there’s no point in staying in the Pokémon World.” She held out the copy of
the Electronic World map A user of this had given to her. “Okay. Next stop –
Mario World! It’s right up north. Before we leave, though, let’s grab some items
or weapons. Aside from exterminating the regional villains, that’s why we’re
travelling through all these Worlds.” So, the three of them ran to Pokémon
Center into the Pokémon Market section. “Hi, we’re going to take thirty Max
Potions, thirty Full Restores, thirty Rare Candies, and thirty Soda Pops.” The
cashier nodded. “Certainly.” Jerry handed over the Pokédollars. “Thank you.
Have a nice day!” Then, fitting all those items into his Bag, based off of
Calem’s Bag, Jerry left the Pokémon Center along with green and Kimmy. “I had
better catch a Pokémon or two to use these items on,” pointed out Kimmy. “Otherwise,
they’re useless.” So, Kimmy, green, and Jerry set off to Professor Sycamore’s
Lab, where Kimmy would get her first Pokémon. In a huff and rather anxious and
impatient to get to the Mario World, NintendoFanKimmy pleaded the wordy
Augustine Sycamore to skip his intro and get it over with. There was no time to
be nice to everyone. “Alright, then,” he said to Kimmy. “Which Pokémon would
you like to accompany you on your quest? I’ve got starters from all regions.”
Kimmy decided almost immediately. “Chikorita. And I’m calling him Chiko.”
Augustine ran to the ball capsules and popped open one to the far left. Out
came a Chikorita, Kimmy’s future travelling companion. “Chiko!” it cried,
seeming to appeal to NintendoFanKimmy almost instantly. It hopped past
Professor Sycamore, nearly knocking him over, and leapt onto Kimmy’s shoulder.
It nuzzled her, and it looked really happy. “Well, that settles it, then.
Thanks, Augustine!” said the new Pokémon Trainer. “That’s Professor Sycamore to
you, kid. And you’re welcome.” Then, the two friends, along with Jerry, went
back outside. “Alright!” yelled Kimmy with joy. “I have a Chikorita!” Because
there was no time to dawdle, she used all thirty Rare Candies Jerry had bought
from the Pokémon Market earlier on Chikorita, and it was level thirty-five.
“Whoa,” the three of them exclaimed, staring at the Chikorita that started to
glow. “It’s evolving!” Then, it was a Chikorita no more – but a Bayleef. Then,
the bright light hazed over Chiko yet again, and it evolved once more.
NintendoFanKimmy felt somewhat sorry, however. “I’m sorry you had to grow up so
fast. But I’ll keep your nickname Chiko as a memory of when I first received
you.” The newly-evolved Meganium smiled and nuzzled Kimmy yet again. It was
still more than happy to have a Trainer. The three ‘friends’ hopped onto Chiko
and were running towards the horizon, where their next destination lay – The
Mario World.
