What am I thankful for?
I’m thankful for so much!
I’m thankful for nature
Each and every simple touch
I’m thankful for the trees,
Singing in the breeze
I’m thankful for the waterfalls
And even for the bees
I’m thankful for tranquility,
I’m thankful for life’s bliss
I’m thankful for the sadness too,
So that I also appreciate this
I’m thankful always for stories
For providing a respite
For giving me hope,
Teaching me to soar,
And brightening my dreams at night
I’m thankful for my family
As clear as it is, it’s true
For knowing me
But still loving me
And helping me when I’m blue
I’m thankful to my friends
For teaching me to smile
For easing the strength of loneliness
From pressing down a while
I’m thankful to the thespians
For teaching me to be wild and free
For showing me that being myself
Is never a bad thing to be,
I’m thankful to my teachers
For teaching me how to think
(Even though the work assigned does push me to the brink)
I’m thankful to the world around
For being my listening ear
Although they may be critical
I have many stories for them to hear
I’m thankful for my home, of course,
And for my father’s new career
I’m thankful somehow, after all
We shall be staying here
I’m thankful for the food I eat
For every scrumptious bite
I’m thankful for the bed on which
I sleep on every night
I’m thankful I have water
And even just fresh air
For there are many simple things
That, for some, just aren’t there
I’m thankful always for hope,
That tomorrow’s a new day
I’m thankful for my future
Which comes closer, so they say
I’m thankful for my history
I’m thankful for my past,
For being what defines me
And serves as my supporting mast
I’m thankful for possibilities
Of things that I might be
Of things that I could do one day
Of things that I might see
And many things
Yes many more
Yes far too many to list,
And I’m thankful for you too
To the person reading this
I’m thankful for your patience,
And hopefully your smile
And even if I don’t know you
That we may share,
This wonderful world for a while.
