The mountains are my guardians
Watching over my state with pride
They encourage us to be different,
But most of the time, we don’t notice.
We are entranced by their beauty,
Soaring pinnacles of nature.
They inspire us to climb,
To capture and explore,
To question and create,
To conquer and to play,
They light up in a billion magical hues as the sun kisses the horizon,
And they puff up with pride, calling us to them when they sport their white snow suits.
We use them as a compass, a playground, a sense of place
The mountains are Colorado’s heart and soul,
As surely as they are mine.
The mountains are my guardians
