Twinleaf Academy - Chapter Five:

So, I'm not a Telekinetic...

As the title says, sadly, I discovered I was not a Telekinetic, which I was hoping to be. After a few days in Mr.Oak's class, he pointed out that if I was a Telekinetic, I would be showing signs by then. Signs like falling pots off of counters whenever I was mad. I wasn't the only one, though. Dylan, my best friend, was, along with me, was the only one in Mr.Oak's class who couldn't lift a feather off of the table using using his mind. So, we were sent off to another class which we would be taking for a few weeks to see if that was our hidden power. It was a rather boring subject - talking to plants. To my surprise, Samantha, my roommate and friend, was in the class, too. I dashed and sat next to her, as it was the only seat left; Dylan headed over to his new friend, Cody. The teacher for this subject was Mr.Sketchit.  In the first session, he handed out the syllabi. Also, he assured us that plant-talking class was not as amazingly boring as it sounded. He told us that when one has the ability to communicate with plants, you can command it to do anything you would like it to do. "Great." I thought. "Now, little plant, just stand still for me... Good job! Good little plant." Seriously, there's not much a plant can do besides standing there and absorb water all day. Followed by several sighs and yawns was the long-awaited, "ring!" The session had ended. The next day, after a nice hot cup of hot chocolate, Samantha and I slugged along to the dreaded class once again. It was getting close to winter, my favorite season of the year. We stopped on our way to class to take a breath; it was a long way there. The two of us sat on the little bench next to the grand window - the window that replaced the shattered one that had been destroyed the night the dark figure came. I was surprised to see a gloomy Samantha sadly staring out of the window. "Courtney." She said. "I don't like winter. Those poor plants. They're all withering..." She seemed to be in sync with the plant. Something told me Mr.Sketchit's class was the class for her. "We better get going." I suggested, and we strolled along to class. "Hello, Mr.Sketchit." we said in unison as we took our seats. That day's lesson was simple. All we were trying to do was understand the simple emotions of a plant - happy or sad. I had a feeling this wasn't my ability, either. I didn't sync with the plant at all, let alone know how it felt. Samantha and Dylan, on the other hand, seemed to be enjoying it. In fact, they were head of the class. They started giggling, and it seemed that they and the plants were actually exchanging jokes. At the end of the day, before I went to my dorm with Samantha, Dylan walked over to me. "Hiya, Courntey! Guess I'm a plant-whisperer... I was hoping for a more manly skill, but there's not much I can do now... Aw, well, the plants do have a sense of humor, though! See ya!" I waved goodbye as he was walking away. Mr.Sketchit had already suggested another class for me, as it was obvious that communicating with plants was not my thing. It meant separating from Dylan and Samantha, but it was for the best. The next day, I would be heading off to my next class, and I was shocked at the subject. And the teacher.
