Mr. Zed : It was way more than just cyber bullied. When she was 14 (?) she chatted with a guy online, started to kind like him, and flashed him her breasts (stupid, yes, but at 14 your hormones are raging). Much later, he started sending the picture to all her school mates, and she got terribly bullied at school. She moved schools and cities a couple times, but every time the guy would find out where she was and do the same thing. This lasted years.

She got beat up a school, and tried killing herself by drinking javex... but I guess no one took it seriously enough.

I feel kinda bad .. or very bad .. like its somehow my fault . I mean if I had saw the video I could have like helped or talked to her or at least give a word of prayer ... but that ain't gonna help now . She is gone and she ain't coming back . Sure she made some mistakes like the rest of us ...tried to move on .... she had her punishment and should have been given a third chance .... not more things that encouraged her to take her own life .  I hope no one else does this ... it is not worth it .... I mean her life was very ... unfair but as a wise man once said .. I blame parents.  If they taught her to find creative ways to socialize, monitored her online usage, perhaps taught her self-value (don't show your body to strangers for acceptance) and maybe taught her to be a little tougher, this may not have happened.

Also, why not hit that button up in the right hand corner that has the big X in it?  Maybe I don't understand because I'm not connected 24/7 and I have real life friends who respect and appreciate me.  People make fun of me and call me names.  You know what?  I can't take them seriously.  I'm confident and comfortable with myself and I'm fine.

There's certainly more than cyber bullying going on.  I'm sure she had more problems, whether psychological or mental or otherwise, that lead her to making her decision.

But why is it impossible to turn the computer off?  If people create a "Please kill yourself" website, why can't you ignore it?

Someone explain this to me calmly and with logic.  Please don't be emotional.

Well this is horrible. It might be the people who made fun her fault for not thinking before hurting the girl's feelings. But is not right to do suicide. Because death is our enemy and we want to avoid it. We all should stop bullying.

Ok, before I begin, I want to give full disclosure. I don't say any of the following to insult or annoy anyone here. This is an open discussion, in an open forum, and this topic makes me want to speak from the heart.

First of all, Amanda Todd is sadly victim one of several dozen a year. She's just one of the victims that the media decided to focus on for several reasons. There's much worse victims out there as well, such as the few girls that I've heard about that aren't obese at all, but the people that they have to deal with AT SCHOOL that kept telling her to kill herself, and then they bragged about getting her to do so on facebook, with the mention of this getting several thousand likes.

But here's the thing. These victims are already dead, and there's nothing at this point that you could do for them.

If you want this to stop happening, focus less on those that have already committed suicide, and  look for people of all ages who want to kill themselves, and listen to them first and foremost. You see, they're rarely they're rarely paid attention to until it's too late, and find out their actual strengths(Don't just tell them what they want to hear), and help them see them within themselves. And yes, I do say this from my own personal experience.

When I transferred over to one of the schools I used to go to.. the kids there were horrible to me they called me names.. said they wish I would die and just horrible remarks. This girl is an amazing story of what happens when this stuff happens. People are terrible these days, I wish people wouldn't bully like they do. I cried when I watched these videos of Amanda Todd. Rest in Peace.

Man do I hate those videos.... whenever I watch one of those.. i cry at it. To see these normal people just get bullied... it is just senseless idiocy. I ******* hate it. I want it to just stop. See, I do have a heart.

As much as I don't enjoy seeing stuff like this, the truth is that these kind of issues have been going on for a very long time, and realistically I doubt that it is going to stop. Some of it is pessimism yes, but this is also pretty much a fact.
To get people to stop bullying others (let alone on the internet, where anonymity pretty much guarantees that bullying will continue) would be like trying to end racism. Like trying to end the hatred towards gay people.

I won't argue that if you make good enough efforts, you could shrink the bullying "rate" dramatically and it would still be a more noticeably happier society. But these bad deeds won't ever fully stop.

warmaker : Well, because killing yourself is a hard decision and if you're depressed you might think 'hm, why not?'. And it's also a decision you can't turn back and you can't apologize to others to make it up. And others can't punish you for it so it's a pretty hard and weird decision. That's my opinion about it.

It's sad to see she bullied herself, in the video she looked pretty normal, wasn't emotional or anything like that. RIP Amanda Todd, hopefully your example warns other kids of how far bullying can go.

Maybe if people were less prude, and the world decided to stop acting ridiculous every time someone decides to show someone their breasts, everything would be fine. They're not even genitalia, and it is not as if showing genitalia would be all that bad either. She really should not have had to deal with something like this just because of scummy people. Heck, if people were less prude, she would have never been in the situation to begin with. Screw them.
