Hey guys! I hope all of you are enjoying the newest gen! I wanted to start a thread about breeding because I'm quite new to the whole thing.  I've already done some reading up on independent values (IVs) and some other basic info needed to breed.  Was has worked for you guys? What hasn't worked for you guys? Any tips for a newbie? Would any of you like to trade some of your bred Pokémon?

First of all, what are you breeding for? I'm assuming you want competitive Pokémon (High IVs and good nature). If so, get a flawless Ditto for starters. You'll also want all of the EV-enhancing items. (Power Weight/Bracer/Belt/Lens/Band/Anklet)

Let me give you a scenario. I'm currently breeding for a Deino with Modest nature and high IVs. I have a flawless Ditto and a Modest Deino in the day care with Ditto holding a Power Anklet and Deino holding an everstone. I receive an egg and it hatches into a level 1 Deino. It will have the same Speed IV as Ditto because Ditto is holding the Power Anklet, and it will also have a Modest nature because the Deino I am breeding with passes down it's nature since it's holding an everstone. If the new Deino happens to have better IVs than the one in the day care, put the new one in and keep going until you get one with 3-4 perfect IVs.

It's actually fairly easy to breed Pokémon with 3-4 perfect IVs and the preferred nature, especially if your Ditto has all 31 IVs.

Also, if you ever start breeding for shiny Pokémon (via Masuda Method), I would highly recommend doing it on B2/W2 as those are the only games with the Shiny Charm.

Chewedmint : Oh okay, that makes sense. Where did you get your flawless ditto from? I tried using the GTS but people just want either a legendary or a mon that I don't even know how to get a hold of without going from another game. Plus, I have no idea how trustworthy they are.  By the way, my friend code is 2165 - 5106 - 3650

I could probably trade you one from my Black 2 cart, if you'd like. Level 100 shiny, flawless Ditto. It's RNG'd and cloned. Also, I have spare Pokémon with multiple perfect IVs and/or Egg Moves if you are interested. I bred them myself.

Chewedmint : What would you want to trade for that ditto? How would we go about doing that?

I breed a lot but I don't know much about it. All I know is about egg groups: pokemon can only breed with other pokemon from that group.
