I would love to battle you some time, I have yet to beat the elite 4 and I am on the 7th gym currently. I am getting close. But here are some pokemon in my team or that I alternate with training:

I had no HM slave, so I had to teach some of my Pokemon necessary HMs.
Aegislash steamrolled Diantha. Hawlucha couldn't touch it, and it boosted to +6 Atk and killed everything with Sacred Sword and Shadow Sneak.

My team was much more well thought out this time. Aegislash wrecks as always, Chesnaught is a really great tank, Aerodactyl is a great fast hitter, especially when mega, Garchomp is just amazing, Clawitzer is a really hard hitter with its ability that boosts Aura and pulse moves, and a great Sp. Atk, and Charizard X kills. I love puns, as is evident by some nicknames (Wallnut? Get it?), and I called Aegislash Eyelander in tribute to Team Fortress 2. If anyone is wondering how to get Aerodactyl, you have to spend a significant amount of time smashing rocks in the back of Glittering Cave to get the Old Amber. A scientist in the fossil lab gives you the Aerodactylite as thanks for rescuing the other scientist in Glittering Cave. I had to spend a while getting Heart Scales for everyone's movesets (Especially Clawitzer, Charizard, and Aegislash). Finding the Tms for Earthquake and Stone Edge were godsends for the Elite Four. I didn't use the Exp. share too much this time to make it more of a fair playthrough, but with good teambuilding, I still steamrolled the game anyways. I had a dedicated HM slave (Hawlucha) this time around, too.

As you can see I ditched my starters but I like to use different pokemon instead of one/two starters taking the slots up, as I said this was the first game clear! Yep I was training up Dragonite so its kind of underleveled at the elites, but My Team now for the moment is:

Hope you like my team! I'm just training up pokemon I caught for their final evos for the pokedex, so my team is getting more levels! Also at the moment I'm doing a Wonderlocke for my Pokemon X version! 

I finished Pokemon Y with the team I had kept during the entire game (I even sent Yveltal to the PC when I could've kept it in my team for the final Lysandre battle): Chesnaught (Chester, Male),  Talonflame (No nickname, Female), Charizard (Chili, Male), Snorlax (Badass (pardon my language, but it's true), Male), Aurorus (Chocolat Mou, Male), and Toxicroak (Saturn, Male).

Well that escalated quickly.....

I finished the elite four with only 5 Pokémon. I don't know why.
They were all around level 74 or so.
Greninja, Talonflame, Florges, Gogoat, Goodra. I tried to add an Aegislash to my team, but I was advancing too far for it to catch up in terms of levels. I focused mostly on a balance of types. It worked out well for me, but I am working on my kind-of competitive team right now.

If I remember correctly my original team was Delphox,Dragalge,Absol,Venusaur,Gyarados and Golurk.
I like trying different kind of teams though so I've resetted. It was a lot of fun playing through with it though.
