The other day my dad asked me if I wanted to try a sip of his beer (I am 14, and I said no) to see what it tasted like. This made me think - when do most people try alcohol for the first time?

I had my first alcohol when I was 17. I was on a college visit, as a cross country recruit. The guys I stayed with were having a mini party, and being that there was only one other recruit there, and neither of us were blabber mouths, they let us have some beer ourselves.

At first, I really didn't want to, because I was trying to avoid peer pressure, but my friend got some alcohol himself, and I didn't want to be the only one who wasn't having fun.

So I ended up having a lot of alcohol and getting drunk.

The only alcoholic beverage I had that night that didn't taste like s*** was vodka. And by then I was already drunk, and I was drinking it straight out of the bottle.

I cant remember. I was given maybe a little taste when I was, well, under ten years old anyway in a cork of a soda bottle and I spat it out since it tasted so horrible. I guess that was the idea. I gotto a little sip to see how horrible it was but it didnt really stick. I was drunk for the first time when I was fourteen though.

Believe it or not, I actually HAVE had alcohol before. I've NEVER liked the smell of it. I think it's one of the most foul smells in existence.  However,  I used to work at a bed and breakfast and had to keep the fridge stocked with beer. I was allowed to take from the fridge for my own meals, within reason of course.  So one day I decided curiosity would get the best of me.

I pulled the tab on a beer, took a sip... and nearly gagged to death.  However, I was determined to get through it and see if maybe it just took a few sips to get accustomed to.  About a quarter through the can and 20 minutes later, I decided that maybe if I diluted it.... it might be tolerable.  I took a huge can of vault.. yes.. vault... (it was all I had.. don't judge!) and mixed the two together.  Despite the ratio, the beer WAY overpowered the vault... and the drink only tasted even nastier than before.  Trying  not to puke and wondering just how insane I was.... I finally poured the remaining 50% down the sink.

I've tried a sip of wine by my husband's insistence, and I still can't do it.  LOL  I just don't understand how anybody can stand that in their mouth... XD

This was before the drinking age changed to 21, it was when 18 year olds could buy alcoholic beverages. It was my freshmen year of high school and I made a few friends there. One of them always carried vodka hidden in sprite bottles to school. He made me drink the sprite, and you know, it caught me off guard since I didn't know it was actually vodka. It was very bitter when I took a taste that I actually spit some of it out. And that was vodka mixed with sprite! I don't regret it, though. Things happened, and they were quite interesting.

That's as far as I'll go with my story. I don't think it would be a good idea for me to dive in anymore.

You kind of remind me of an elderly relative I have. She took one shot of brandy in some party in the sixties and it was her first and last  time she ever drank alcohol. It aint for everybody and there aint nothing wrong with that.

But I can tell you that wasn't the only time I tried alcoholic drinks. I've tried different kinds at least 3 or 5 different kinds of alcoholic beverages. When I turned 16, my mom would allow me to try alcoholic drinks for new years. The first time it was wine, the next were just several wine coolers. I like to call them 'lady beers' though. However, I've never actually tried beer before. I heard it's nasty.

probably 15, beer tastes pretty crappy but vodka isn't bad and wine is simply horrendous.

UFC : I don't think I will like wine. It looks and smells pretty gross. Some beer looks pretty good though.

My Sisters and my cousins are all the same age. Plus my High School friends married young.
Sue me for not keeping track.
I have had too much to do in between.
Remembering the good stuff is kind of a pain now. Being 30 something.
