Lysandre is a great character in my opinion. He evokes a moral dilemma in the player at the arc of the story. I won't spoil it for you, but the arc is awesome.

The new characters are simply amazing! 

It's pretty nice that each character/rival has a distinct personality. 

Team Flare looks kind of funky to me...some sort of "stylish" villainous group, but hey, they aren't half bad.

I personally enjoyed the new Pokemon characters a lot more than I thought I would. They really tried with a lot of them, evidently, and Lysandre is a great example. Pokemon X and Y's characters has taken the depth of the franchise up to a whole new level, and in a very positive way.
