There were many similarities, but
more differences between the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages. Although both ages had use of
lithics, people in the Neolithic Age had things that people in the Paleolithic
Age did not, such as agriculture and domestication of animals. In the Paleolithic Age,
people were nomadic and traveled in groups to hunt and gather. In the Neolithic Age, people
lived a sedentary lifestyle.
The use of agriculture and animal domestication helped make this possible.

            One
major similarity between the two ages was the use of lithics, or stone tools. Stone tools were used in
these ages to perform tasks such as carving, stabbing, cutting, scooping, and
chopping. These tools
were the basis for the more advanced tools that we use today. The tools used in the
Paleolithic age were less sharp and less complex than the tools used in the
Neolithic age, but they both used lithics nonetheless.

            One
major difference between the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages was their lifestyle. People in the Paleolithic
Age lived a nomadic lifestyle.
This means that they didn’t have permanent homes, they traveled around from
place to place. They got
their food by hunting and gathering. When all of the fruit was picked and the animals were eaten,
they would move to a new spot.
This changed a lot, come the Neolithic age. Thanks to agriculture, people lived a sedentary
lifestyle. They built
permanent settlements and created villages and eventually cities. They were able to do this
because they grew their own constant supply food (an agrarian society) instead
of hunting and gathering. They
also domesticated animals and trained them to do tasks for them.

            The
Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages were revolutionary periods that helped change
life forever. They did
have things in common, such as the use of lithics, however they had more
differences. Some of
these differences include their settlements and their food source. While people during the
Paleolithic Age were nomadic hunter gatherers, people during the Neolithic age
lived a sedentary life and got most of their food by farming.
