The weirdest insect I've ever seen was a leaf bug. I was raking some leaves when all of the sudden a leaf went walking out the pile! I basically lost it and went back into my house.

There are tons of werid insects. However ther is one that stands out. It us a bug that catches spiders, slurps out their insides, and then wears the spider's exoskeleton as armour. Defintely the weridest in my opinion.

The Praying Mantis .  It looks like it is Praying all the time . And it has the weirdest eyes . Plus the females eat the head of the males they mate with . I would NOT want to be a praying mantis

I think the stick bug is kind of weird personally, but it is probably mistaken as a stick and uses that as camouflage or resembling something else to avoid predators which can come in pretty handy if needed.

I agree with Mr. Zed, it would really suck to be a praying mantis because not only do you look weird, but you lose your head after mating! That just sucks! So I wouldn't want to be a praying mantis of all insects, its just bad...

The weirdest insect is truly the Butterfly. What's more weird than living part of your life as a disgusting worm-like creature and over a matter of days get bright and colorful wings that make it considered beautiful. I haven't seen such a great change in any other insect so it's definitely weird.

I thought walking stick when I first saw the question.  But I thought about it and I have to go with cicadas.  They're not too big, they're weird looking, and they make a TON of noise.  Those things create so much volume out of such a small body.  It's really impressive how a group of them just get so noisy and take over summer.

Well, I'm thinking the Leaf bug. Even though they don't do much, they still are pretty weird. One time when I was younger, the 90's or so, I was in a playground sitting on a bench, then I saw a leaf on my hand. It was tiny so I decided I would keep it, then all of a sudden, I noticed it had legs and it walked off my hand.
