What do you think about the government shutting down? I think it is a bunch of bull! The soldiers aren't getting paid they are all getting a iou check. And they say on the news that if the government isn't back up next month then people on SSI won't get checks and if that happens i am screwed. I pay my apartment and other bills with that money. Also i am on medicaid and if that shuts down i am also screwed. My medicine is over 5 grand a month and with out it i will literally die. And the reason why it shut down in the first place was because the republicans was going on about how much they hate obamacare and the senators also played a big part in the matter. They all get a bigger paycheck out of this but everybody else is getting screwed. So what does everybody else think about this?

I am pretty sure there is already a thread for this, but I will not summon the mods because I am not positive. I really don't even want to comment on the shutdown it is just ridiculous.

In technicality the other thread talks of a potential shutdown, this talks of the actual, in effect, shutdown.

Im pretty sure the military is being paid, obama made some bill guaranteeing funding for military before the republicans chucked the faeces into the fan.

I think if the shutdown stripped funding from politicians this would be resolved by now.
I saw a vid where boehner (tee hee) was saying he sought a fair deal for the people.
He was then asked what he had to say to the hundreds of thousands who would receive no back pay.
He paused then reiterated he sought a fair deal for the people before charging off with the reporter asking him to answer the question.

There is the "man" fighting for americas "rights".

What a fiasco, joke, a farce.
Can anyone really argue your system works? Because from here it seems pretty broken.

No the military is not being paid. They said on the news that the military is not being paid. They even did a interview with this guy who lives outside of a military base. He said that he has 4 daughters and the military is his only income and now that they are no longer getting paid he doesn't know what 2 do. He said with all of the places not hiring at the moment he is basically screwed. And i don't think that anybody will argue that our system isn't broken.

This shutdown is rediculous. And I'm a republicain so that's saying something. This entire thing is pointless! Everyone's acting like babies because they aren't getting their way so they pull stuff like this. I mean, Obama tried to pass a bill to make sure everyone can go to the doctor. [Scarcasm] What an evil, evil man. [/Scarcasm]

I don't know why the  government is able to pull such childish antics. Sure, if a four-year-old did this, I would get it, but 30 -50 year olds? What kind of world is it to make that an acceptable policy. So much for setting an example for the next generation.

I don't really have an opinion on the subject but I do know WHY They shut part of the government down. So The Democrats wanted to raise the debt Ceiling, But the republicans Are adamantly Dissagreeing To raise it. The democrats threatened To shut part of the government down, Still The republicans were adamant. So They shut part of it down. As for the Whole "Soldiers not being paid" thing. I am not very sure. When I heard about this Government Shutdown, it really depends on who you are if you're going to get affected with this shutdown or not, some people will get effected if they're like military families or they had plans of going to national monuments, and the closing of National Parks, although some are opened back up, but they're only considered as "State Parks" while the shutdown is going on. For me, since I don't do a whole lot, this shutdown doesn't really effect me in anyway with my family though.

KiyokoNee : You make a solid good point, I view the House and Senate nothing more than just big crybabies, it's like a point, if they're not happy on what's going on, they have to make a scene for the American people have to suffer though, so in a way, that's why we got the Government shutdown right now because they don't want Obamacare to go through, which I do understand, but they don't need to throw a huge fit about it like little toddlers, and close down the whole government down, I just really don't understand them, if they left it all alone and Obamacare didn't even exist, then none of this wouldn't even happen
