I grew up watching all the Harry Potter movies and I loved them! Every time one would come out I would be so anxious to see it! Then they came out with Deathly Hallows , I will honesty say it was the most depressing and disappointing thing I have ever seen! I can't believe it..Dumbledore dies.. I cried forever.

Most recently I thought that the Legend of Korra season two was very disappointing compared to season one. And the whole Legend of Korra seems disappointing compared to Avatar the Last Airbender. I really like some parts, but I got bored near the end of season two.

The most disappointing movie sequel was Hangover 2.

It is a tie between The Lion King 2 and Home Alone 4. The Lion King 2 was a very disappointing sequel to the original Lion King, in my opinion, and the animation and story line just seemed rushed and cheesy in comparison. As for Home Alone 4, it is neither a sequel nor a prequel, but an interquel between the original Home Alone and Home Alone 2. The new actor looked nothing like the original Kevin McCallister (played my Macaulay Culkin), and the story sucked :/. It didn't have that same, warm feeling as the original two, and it was very upsetting.

really, it happens all the time in manga and anime. its either they are short and bad/good, or they are good from the start and slowly become bad. the only two that i know of that havent done that are Fairy Tail and DBZ. like Bleach, ive always hated Quincy''s, and when i realized he was becoming one, i kinda stopped reading.

Crank 2 I loved the first it was action packed not too much thinking then 2 came out I was stoked hell I was even willing to look past the fact he fell out of a helicopter and survived  then I saw the horrendous contraption called crank 2. What was seen cannot be unseen.

I'm surprised the original post didn't mention the star wars prequels. While there's much more I can say (I'm sure that applies to us all) about those, I'll throw in a different sequel.

The Sandlot! Awesome movie, but avoid the sequels. I'm not sure why I saw them, either. Even knowing that they can't live up to the first one, they still didn't match expectations.

Also, I didn't know there was a Home Alone 4

For me, it was the third Harry Potter movie. It was so unlike the book, the actor for Dumbledore changed (but that couldn't be helped), and the music wasn't as intriguing as the previous two movies.

I didn't know about the seventh movie for Star Wars. If it hasn't come out yet, why judge it? 

Don't remind me about Tron legacy. It was a waste of time and should have been much better written. If you're only looking for graphic design, then you'll be happy.

The paranormal activity movies really got to me.. they were so dumb really and I wasn't scared at all.. I really wish they would of included some more detail or something. It was like there was a ton missing from the movies and it made it seem like a pretty bad movie.. I hope they can some time make better things. I mean I liked the sequals of PNA but it was just so disappointing.

That would probably have to be Transporter 2. I liked Transporter's 1 and 3, but everything about numer 2 felt lazy, from the actors (even the extras) to the plot.

I have seen a few bad sequels and prequels. One of the worst was dumb and dumber the prequel was the second movie after the first one. The second one was really bad and made no sense in my opinion. 
Another bad one that comes to mind is the Alien Vs Predator sequel. The first one was really good but the second one was bad. It felt like they had run out of plot line and it looked very rushed. 
I also think the blade sequels were bad, it just seemed like in those movies they reused old material. Blade is hunting vampires, and in return they are trying to get him same old same old 
Somebody mentioned the Dark Knight. I could make an argument with that one as the Joker in that one was horrible. But to be fair I'm biased because I like Mark Hamill as the Joker

That Random Guy : come again, halloween 3 was extremely original there hasn't been another movie where watching a kids tv show makes children head turn mush and bugs and snakes and they die. And michael myers is such a mediocre slasher icon very overrated in my opinion. To all that said prometheus I agree whole heartedly for many reasons but I can'r be bothered stating, also alien vs predator 2 stunk too.

I would say Curse of Chucky since it did not really have the scariness of the first one and was not one of the best in my opinion. So it ended the series only with Andy killing Chucky with a Shotgun which was a dissapointment for me and some fans. It was not the best but I would give it a two out of five

As far as movies go, there's plenty but the one that most immediately comes to mind is th matrix, they went from flawless to terrible in 2 movies.
equally the godfather was a pretty bad progression too, but not nearly as much so.
