Besides the twilight series(braces for dislikes), what's the most disappointing sequel/prequel you've ever seen?

Hands down, for me it would have to be Star Wars the Phantom Menace... The original Star Wars trilogy was one of the first things I remember watching as a child, I loved it! I literally waited my entire life in anticipation for the prequel, only to be traumatized by the excessively goofy, ridiculous abomination that was the phantom menace... George Lucas should be living in a cave right now.

They did a remake/sequel to The Lost Boys a few years ago and it was absolutely Terrible  
but Episode 1 from star wars should be burned in a fire or locked away in a vault DAMN YOU JAR JAR!!

Well do you count the movie "The Last Airbender" as a sequel to the cartoon? If not, then I have to say Back to the Future 2. It was awful compared to the original, and the third one was even worse.

tgags123 : That's a shame, I only ever saw the first back to the future movie, I was planning on seeing the others.  Better to find out here than watch the movies and be disappointed then I guess, oh well...

I agree with Star Wars Episode 1, lets hope they don't mess up Episode 7. (Too much)

Prometheus. It was just both disappointing and confusing.

The Neverending Story III. I'd actually say it's one of the worst movies made were it not for Jack Black's amazing performance. Other than that... The Last Airbender, if it counts as a sequel to a cartoon. IT WAS TERRIBLE.

Dumb and dumberer: When harry met loyd - What an awful prequel.  The original was a great comedy with two good actors, and should have been left alone.  The prequel was 2 nobody's, and had an awful, unfunny story.  What a pile of crap.

Rocky V - Rocky 3 and 4 were probably a bit overkill, but at least they were somewhat decent, if nothing else but a Stallone cash cow machine.  But Rocky V should have never existed.  Why Stallone even allowed this to ruin the franchise, I have no idea.  He tried to make up for it with Rocky Balboa (Rocky 6 for some), which was pretty good, but the horrors of V remain.

Oceans Twelve - Oceans eleven was a fun, star studded remake of a classic.  It made you pull for the guys who were trying to hit up the casino.  It was clever, fun, funny, and entertaining.  Twelve was none of this.  It was uninspired, and was just an excuse to get as many stars on the screen at one time.  Hey, I'm famous, can I get a pointless scene?  Oceans 13 was better at least.

The dark knight - What a boring movie.  Heath Ledger was the worst joker ev... I'm kidding, this movie was freaking awesome.

I'm ok with the star wars prequels.  May not be a popular opinion, but I am.  I was at the age where I was old enough to start watching and really getting into star wars at around 1998, so it kind of all clicked and star wars was at my peak popularity when phantom came out.  And no they weren't perfect.  Jar jar was insanely annoying, but it was more star wars.  And to me, the more the better.

Star Wars episode 2. I actually liked the episode 1, just I don't like 2 that much.

Well, it's not the worst I've seen, but Hoodwinked Too! comes to mind.

The first was such a surprisingly funny kids movie, but the second was terrible, they didn't even keep Anne Hathaway.

Also, Tron Legacy was disappointing. As it was said, Star Wars Episode I. Jurassic Park 2 (though I didn't even love the first one).

Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. This didn't even have Michael Myers in it, and wasn't very canon or original. Hated it.

Definitely Prometheus. Although every alien movie switched the general aim of the movie, Prometheus missed every single strand of decency or coherence. 

All of the movies mentioned so far were the ones I think of when it comes to bad prequels or sequels.

Disney Sequels are terrible. Why? Just Why?
One of the richest Companies in the world and they are known for their movies. Why make Bad ones?
It gives fools hope that they can write a script too.
You should see them all piled up at modern "Coffee Shops" with their laptops.

Disney Sequels are pure torture for people of all ages.

I would have to say the Land Before Time Sequels. Now, as a kid, I loved them. But when I got older, I realized how dark and mature the first one was. All the sequels that came afterward could not have been more different from the original. They went completely overboard with it. As an adult, I think the first one is the only REAL good one.

Alien 3.

Alien is probably my favorite movie of all time.
Aliens was cool too. Not as good as Alien, but still not bad.
When I saw Alien 3, I was beyond disappointed.
It was terrible to say the least.

While on the topic, Alien Resurrection wasn't that great either, but I would watch that 100x before I would ever want to watch the third.

Prometheus. Now I could go on a rant as why this is a horrible prequel, but I will keep it short.
Every Alien movie was pretty good, and when I heard there was a prequel coming out, I was pretty excited. However, it was a pretty bad movie. Filled with plot holes, this movie is a pretty bad prequel. Alone, it is a good movie, but compared to the other Alien movie, this really has nothing going for it.

maguc : I pretty much approached Prometheus with a stand alone movie attitude and I think that made it more enjoyable. 
Looking at the visuals,  it definitely had the Alien look tho.
