Eladard is a planet that appears in Star Fox 2 beta.

SF2 Eladard

Eladard - Arwingpedia, the Star Fox wiki - Star Fox 64, Adventures, Assualt, and more

The planet has a ring on the outside and apparently houses large cities.
An industrial world. Perhaps it was Andross's equivalent planet to Corneria, only smaller.
But why is the planet purple? Just atmospheric differences? I don't know about you, but
when I find something that game developers dropped that was pretty neat, I can get
quite excited. I wish that this planet had appeared in later Star Fox games, it could serve as
a planet where Andross's normal citizens would live allthough there probably aren't many.

Speculation?

Well with the atmosphere it does mention that, despite the entire planets size, it is a large industry world. Hence forth the atmosphere probably changed rapidly due to the constant pollution from the factories and now hardly anyone or anything can live there. It is amusing that this planet was probably the original makeup to what became Zoness in the Star Fox we have now. Before the planet became intolerable to life it probably was the Corneria for Venom's citizens or something before become a factory based world and then used for war.

What I really find amusing is the difference between Star Fox and Star Fox 2 and how new planets were added or weren't included between the two to make the Lylat system seem more expansive to a degree. By then when Star Fox 64 came out we could see Lylat is pretty roomy and Star Fox Adventures shows theres still alot to the Lylat System as long as you look at the very edges to see if you can find anything; i.e. Sauria. If Star Fox 2 had gone through...who knows what other kind of planets could've been created or the history behind them for that matter.

zerothesaint :

I didn't really think that the planet was that polluted, but that may well be.
I think that the planet had citizens on it that weren't affiliated with Corneria, they were
just another group of people that were trying to make their way through the universe, but
Andross toke over the planet either via allegiance of force, and so, in Star Fox 2, it became
his battle foundry planet, which, like you said, may have caused it's pollution problems.
Must have been a neat place before it was polluted though.

In one the RPGs that I was a part of, there was a planet called Tallagalo, it was made of
mostly a purple sea, which was purple because of the mineral which were in the water.
The planet was very rainy, and it's ground was mostly black. A very gloomy planet indeed.
It had polls made of black metal sticking out of the water that supported platforms and structures,
and it was inhabited by purple salamanders who were also purple due to the same minerals that were
found in the water that they drank. This planet is the home of Gyro Scallagalo.
