I'm trying something different, this time I'm doing it 7 days after the start of a new day to see if the games are different and sure enough they are. By midday they seem to be the same 20 games.

tRIUNE : Even right now, 1 hour and 12 minutes after midnight, there are some new games appearing. I think that if I were to make popularity the default search on the index, it could make the games that are popular right away remain popular throughout the day and possibly mixing up the popular games each day.

I think it would be cool to have the default RGR page sorted by 'popular' - give it a shot if you think it'll work. he current setup does occasionally change - for example, when I added the hack 'Pokemon Light Platinum', it took a while for it to reach the 1st page of the 'best' category and it seems to be slowly moving its way toward the top slot of the 3 games on top.

I think a lot of sites that have online games have the games sort by popularity by default so this may end up being what I stick with.
