 (This may need to be a poll, but I'm not sure, so... Sorry.) Ok, so, as my first thread, (it took me forever to figure out what I was doing *derp*) I just wanted to ask; since this is a high-school-esque age group, how do you introduce somebody to new music?
I.E. My friend is a dubstep/rap fan. Although I enjoy dubstep, I'm more of a punk rock type (Ex. Rise Against, Funeral for a Friend, etc.). As hard as I try to convince people to listen to it (my friend refuses to listen to any of the said bands, even though he's never heard of them, and it makes me think of a spoiled child.)

So fellow Vizzers, what is your call?
Oh, and as a semi-noob, will someone help me out on here?

I'm ashamed to say that I'm like that as well. Trying new things is uncomfortable for some people, which is why your friend is hesitant to listen to your type of music. However, I find that I'm mostly convinced through the method of visualization.

If a song from a band you like is featured in a movie or some sort, try making him watch the movie. Or if the song has a music video, then make him watch the video.

I began listening to my now favorite band; Atreyu, because of their music video for Underworld Evolution - 'Her Portrait In Black'.

But I agree, with Mistress, it is hard to start listening to a new Genre. Visualization helps a hell of a lot.

I like trying new things I am like this when it comes to many things, music, food or anything else. I like listening to pop, 80s music, rock, death metal, some rap, and also classical. I pretty much like most music, but a lot of modern music from today sucks. It is so ignorant and obnoxious and it is just horrible stuff.


I used to hate country but then i started to like it a little bit more. Is it my favorite genre, no. Do I like it, yes. So for the most part I like all music, save a lot of the modern 'music' of today. I like to try new things and I try to make my range of music that I like wide and various. I am not the kind of person who only listens to pop, or rock, I like a variety of genres, so yeah i am open to trying new things, and those are the genres of music I like best.
