Hello everyone this is Deadend136. I have a quick question that anyone can answer with experience. I would like a possible estimate for a noob to accomplish a hack alone with these requirements for the finished hack:

1) It will take place in the Kanto region also with the ability to go to Johto. (Note I will be using a Pokemon Fire Red Hack and hopefully will be able to bring the Johto region into the game but I am a noob so if I try I will need serious help!)

2) The music will all be the same.

3) Different starter Pokemon.

4) Different Pokemon found in the grass areas.

5) A lot of work will be put in for gym leaders of both regions as well as the elite 4 and level modifiers will be made due to different wild Pokemon which will hopefully make leveling not as hard and time consuming. (Also will have different teams for everyone except trainers on routes. The trainers will have level modifications though.)

6) Will be adding 2 rivals into the mix with the same teams which are not to be affected by which starter is chosen.

7) You will be able to get free Pokemon in each town house but you will have to battle and catch them. (1 per town and they will all be decent Pokemon but definitely nothing way too over powered)

8) Not all Pokemon will be available to catch but if it is not very hard I will make it able to catch different Pokemon during the night.

9) I will make it able to catch final evolution Pokemon during different points of the game but they will not be very over leveled or powered.

10) Ultra balls will be free in every PokeMart.

So as a noob with absolutely no experience in hacking how long would it take for me to perfect this hack?

I put a difficulty for each of the things you listed. There are on a scale from Easy to Very Hard.

Thank you friend I really appreciate the input you have given me. However, let me be a little more specific in a few parts that you rated medium, harder, and very hard.

6) Will including 2 more rivals really be that hard to put in the rom? I know it would take some time to find the right sprites and decide on the team of 6 they will both have but still I would have thought 2 more rivals would not actually be that time consuming to throw in?

7) Should I switch it so that in a town house you can just pick up a free Pokemon instead of battling it? Like I am sure it will not take too much away from the gamer and I am sure it will be less time consuming to do that.

8) By that I mean that I will not change anything around so all the Pokemon in both regions can in fact be caught. I would however, include random Pokemon in each generation in the game.

And can you be just a little more specific with what you ranked 'easy"? Like can you throw down an estimate like either: 24 hours, 48 hours, a week, a week and a half, a month?

6 and 7 requires some degrees of scripting, so if you dont know scripting it'll definitely take some time learning. if you know some programming language it gets easier (XSE is somewhat similar to C/C++)

8 (able to catch different Pokemon during the night) is hard because fire red doesn't have this feature built in, although its still possible with all the tools/tutorial available. not only does it need the day and night system you need to be able to change the wild pokemon data(not sure if the DNS tool enables to do this)

Reading the guides that are on the top of the forum will help a lot (obviously). Please read them then ask questions.
