Then it depends all on training as they both have equal base speed, so Kyogre would have to minimize its speed gains and maximize its SP. Def gains.
But in any case Kyogre has double advantage ignoring weather effects while Groudon only has standard advantage but double weakness.

So yeah, Kyogre's my choice, plus he looks cooler and I don't like hot weather

Not quite happy yet oakenlok. Groudon has an ability too dontcha know. The Drought ability, that will dissipate that Drizzle ability Kyogre brought out in a flash. But that does depend on who comes out into battle first. If Groudon came first and would bring out the Drought ability, then Kyogre would come out and bring out the Drizzle ability, getting rid of that! It's an on-going, off-going war of abilities!! So I'm not so happy then.

What I AM happy about is that the thread has increased into 2 pages! Awesomeness!

Groundon's solarbeam would wipe oup kyouge, but kyouge's hydro pump would destroy groudon. I'm not sure on this one.

To wargod87: When Groudon enters battle, his Drought ability will be activated on the spot, but that would depend on who comes in first, then the abilities would be going back and forth. And that is just how the battle would be so unique. They get stronger when their abilities so one might win against the other, and then it changes to to the opponents upper hand.

To fireskull: Groudon is a ground type pokemon (hence the name, Groudon. It's like Groundon but without that 'n' in there) I know it's hard to get sometimes since Groudon is red. Tharry for spoiling your favorite xD

Really, considering their moves, and Kyogre's type advantage (water vs. ground, with any other Pokemon their would be no contest. Nobody would say that Marowak would kill Golduck unless Marowak knew Thunder, and then Golduck might still pull off a win), Kyogre wins hands down. But yeah, Kyogre is water type, Groudon is Ground. Although I always thought that Kyogre should also be part Ice and Groudon should be part Fire, considering their movesets. Sorry to burst your bubble, ramkennan.

Bear in mind that Groudon can learn Fissure, which is a One-hit-KO move. If Groudon can get in before Kyogre, and manage to land Fissure, then it's Groudon FTW. If not, then it's Kyogre FTW.

Also bear in mind that Kyogre can learn Sheer Cold, which is also a OH-KO move. So, that doesn't decide things either.

This is what makes the battle SO INTENSE ya guys!!

-A chance of either one one hit KO-ing each other
-Super effective of Water over ground, but with a move of grass over water type Pokemon.
-Legends battling each other...what's NOT to get excited about that?!

I think that Kyogre can beat Groudon because it is a water type and Groudon is a ground/fire and water beats fire.

I prefer Kyogre. I like him more than Groudon. Also, he has an element average against Groudon. So, if I had to pick one, I'll choose Kyogre.

Obviously, in a 1 on 1 fight, Kyogre would beat Groudon, even though Groudon is likely slower and thus forces it to sun.

But they would never do that. If I know them, they'd bring some friends, like Manaphy and Palkia for Kyogre and Ho-oh and Egseggutor (Don't laugh, Eggy was a driving force in Advanced OU) for Groudon. Considering Groudon gets the weather up, it has a clear advantage: Eggy can defeat 2 of those three easily with Grass Knot or Solarbeam, Ho-Oh blows out Kyogre and Palkia with Brave Bird.

Again, 1 on 1, Kyogre. With team members, Groudon. He wasn't the best pokemon in gen3 for nothing!
