If you press the " B " button when it says that the pokemon is evolving or when the pokemon is evolving it will not evolve. It will continue to try evolving every time it levels up

STOP PRESSING X it will stop all evolution that pokemon is press spacebar in order to go even way faster if you are playing while recording idk how to solve that but don't change the keys at all

It depends on whether you changed your keys, but yeah, just don't press B (unless you want your starter to learn a move that the other evolutions cannot learn, like Mudkip learns Hydro Pump at lvl 42 while Marshtomp and Swampert cannot leaern Hydro Pump)

Torchic can learn Flamethrower at lvl 43, so if you don't want to waste TM 35 on it, then keep it as Torchic until then.
