Now, we all know that SimCity is simply a city building game(hence the title). It has a unique style of gameplay, compared to the general rule of Get to the Goal rule of the SNES Gaming Era. But is it a game, or simply a city simulator(I think Sim is Simulator so that was pretty dumb)? I think it is more of a simulator than a game...but that is my opinion.

I think it is a game. Just maybe not directed at people who the general SNES games. It was probably directed at people who played with lego (or is that minecraft?). Maybe it for people who were or wanted to be president (I gueess that is your role in the game). In some ways it will help them but I am not sure Bowser will be attacking the white house.

The goal of the game is to become a Megalopolis. To do that you need a population of 500,000. It is a very tough task - I have only accomplished this twice in like 20 years - but it is a great game in my opinion.

It's a sandbox game with few rules that allows you to explore yourself and others.  SimCity is an incredible game with a great idea that is wonderful to play because the atmosphere is different from a button-masher, a sports game, or an RPG.  It's simply different but that doesn't make it something different from a game.

The question should be: What's the definition of "game"?  That might answer the question.

For me, a game is something you do that is fun.  SimCity is fun.  Hence it's a game.

Flight simulator is a simulator.  I count it as a game.

There's no doubt in my mind that it's a "Game" there are rules and objectives and direct consequences for your actions.

I think that it's very well done for it's time, and it's still one of my favorite "Sim" games of all time.
