I've always told myself that I never liked rap or never would.  I guess when you work around inner city schools, you only hear one type of rap.... and that type of rap I can't stand.  Now, some old school stuff, like UFC mentioned.... isn't all that bad depending on who you listen to.  I actually remember liking a Will Smith beat or two.  

But then mrfe introduced me to some rap and I was... well.. shocked. I liked it!

I guess it just goes to show that we always have something to learn!

So.. most modern rap?  No, not really.  Some Christian rap, or oldies rap?  Depends on the song, but it's a possibility!

Because it isnt about your god its stupid? I agree a lot of rap is crap but some of it actually has a message, and helps get people through the day. It has certainly provided more food for thought than most of the music they play on the radio (at least here, mindless pop 24/7.)
If it helps people with their life then it is doing something positive. Like m&m.
I dont much care for him, or rap, but he has a lot of really usefull songs, like about recovering from alcoholism or drug addiction, and that does help people who are in that position.

Summary would be i dont tend to listen to rappers because they often sing about killing, fighting, or how fantastic they are which is mind numbing drivvel.
However when bands i like occasionaly do a rap i tend to like it, because it has a message,  a purpose, and real heart to tje song, not just a half assed money making gimick.

Well rap is kind of annoying, no melody, generally bad lyrics and bad language. The only rap I can tolerate is in my own language, Swedish. I think it's basically because Swedish rap doesn't contain just as much bad language and not as bad messages. But still, it's not something I listen to normally.

I absolutely do love rap. It is the personification of art in the written form. It /can/ beautifully represent life, emotions, and even trivial things that we all enjoy.
Granted, it isn't always that. A lot of the "popular" rap isn't what I am talking about, nor is it what I enjoy, but to get back to the point: when done right, I absolutely love rap.
