hi guys. what game system should i get? i don't have the money to buy it anytime soon (maybe) but i wanna know. i need something that has good graphics, good games, and good wholesome value. i am starting a game collection, and i already have a n64 and snes. but I NEED MORE! take into consideration the graphics, games, and wholesome value like i said before. so get right on that and thank you for reading! I suggest getting the Playstation if your looking for a console with great graphics.

I think you should get the Playstation. It seems to be more popular than the Sega consoles you listed. It has great graphics and some really cool games such as the Namco Museum series.

Well my friend that is a hard choice indeed. I love all three of those systems but I'd put my money on the PlayStation. It is definitely a console that rivaled the N64 back then, (lucky me I had both!), and had a very large variety of games. I say this with utmost confidence that you would get way past your moneys worth and your time if you choose the PlayStation. The graphics for this system are stupendous as are the games for it.

Many great series started and blossomed into gaming figureheads from the original PlayStation such as Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy (not including the past ones but the main 3D final fantasy games were a big step forward), Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Spyro, and many more. 

There are a plethora of games out there to behold and own for the PlayStation and having a collection of some of the greatest games to come out for that system could make retro gamers envious. So you have my vote for the good ol' Ps1 (or PSX, take your pick).

In my opinion, the Playstation wins this easily. The other systems you listed are fine, but their shelf lives and popularity were so limited that you'll probably struggle to find many games for them, whereas the PSX was wildly popular (and rightly so). As zerothesaint put it, so many great games got their start on the PSX, and many of the best retro games of all time (in my opinion) lived and died on the PSX, such as Clock Tower (with exception of "The First Fear" for the SNES, which we have on Vizzed) and Dino Crisis. The PSX was indeed superior to the N64 (no, no bias here, I owned both and compared the games that came out on both) because the discs could hold so much more, and the system was just more capable than a cartridge based system.

The only way I'd recommend those other systems is if you are just a Sega enthusiast, want to obtain more obscure systems/games, or already have a pretty solid collection, and want to complete it.

If you're really set on the 3 you picked go with PS (huge game library)I would wait for PS4 or get that hybrid system that plays SNES Sega and NES games I believe. I know a few people that have them and highly recommend them, I still got the original versions but I need controllers .

noahd101 : Please, you give me too much credit. I just love video games, I loved growing up with them and I love to help people with decisions when it comes to getting the right games or systems and get their moneys worth. Its what I love to do. Its really just me giving you my knowledge on the system and the games and being helpful. And i'm hoping it has helped you in a way.

If there was any else to say about the other systems though, I would get the Ps1 first then the Sega Saturn and the Sega Dreamcast for very last. The Dreamcast was an interesting system but died off really quickly and the Saturn is just an all-around classic system. But go and build your collection and be the envy of your friends. Its fun to be able to do that but also show off these classic games and get others into old series they've never heard of. The world of video games is a fun place, my friend, but you didn't need me to tell you that.

Ok I think I might be able to help. I like the Dreamcast and Psx the best out of the consoles you have listed. The Saturn is an awesome console but I haven't seen one for under 60 in a very long time so If you are limited on money its not the one for you right now. The Dreamcast is very easy to find and I see them all the time on sites like Craigslist for 20-30 bucks with games. The Psx is crazy cheap! If you go to yard sales or stuff like that you should find one easy for about 10 bucks. I wouldn't pay over 20 for the console with games. Sega Dreamcast memory cards are a lot cheaper, around 2 or 3 per card and the Psx memory cards are around 10 per card. When all is said and done I would go with Sega Dreamcast.

Personally I don't think any of the Sega games from those consoles are any good. The PlayStation has a better variety.

Well friend.  This is a matter of personal preference.   It depends on what you'll like and what you'll find for each of the games.

If you want a lot of 2d games I'd recommend the Sega Saturn.

If you like good old 3d games, with nice action/adventure/shooters.  I would go for the original Playstation.

I Can't not recommend the Sega Dreamcast.    This is because of the small variety of games that was on the system.   Because the Dreamcast and sega Suffered from Losing sales to Sony's Playstation 2.   So they stopped developing games for that system within a year after releasing it. etc.


Overall Again it's based on personal preferences, but at the end of the day.

I would go for...  Playstation.  Because it has much more games,  More memorable games like crash bandicoot  a lot of fun and unique racers. and Much more variety of popular titles. and More popular titles can usually be more easy to find from what I've learned and read from here.

The PlayStation is a definite if you ask me. There are great graphics, great sound, and overall  greatness. It really did a great job compared to other systems in it's age.

I have to go with the PlayStation. As far as video games are concerned it is East meets West. By that I mean, you still had some of the old school or retro creativity in genres but it was blended with the data capacity and graphics of the new age. Hope this helps. (And yes I voted!)
