Alright its finally time to look at the ultimate slicer and dicer himself a cool Pokemon named scyther now scyther is one of my favorites and alot of other peoples favorites he's a fan favorite and for good reason he was very popular on the original show and still is a huge fan favorites for this newer generation and i hate to say it but....he might not be as cool as we built him up to be *BOOHS* OKAY OKAY HOLD ON A SECOND i am not saying its a bad Pokemon its a great Pokemon i'm just saying while we were blown away bye its design we may have overlooked a few things about it in the game i remember when i was a little kid and all my friends were hunting for this thing in the game and not just my friends everyone in the school was doing this searching everywhere sadly i never found it in Pokemon Red so when Pokemon gold was about to release i and everyone else were extremely hype for its return and luckily i found but...it wasn't as good as i thought it would be when i don't want to toot my own horn here but when i was younger i was not like all the other kids in my school at least not when i played Pokemon i didnt pick the Pokemon i liked i picked the Pokemon i needed to survive not just fan favorites liked when everyone picked Charmander i picked bulbasaur because that's the most logical thing to do so i quickly saw that scyther was not worth using but hey enough about my past its time to review this beast.

Now the only way i know of to catch this Pokemon in johto at least is to go to the bug catching contest just above golden rod city just enter it and who knows you might find it all thought it is very very VERY rare so have fun looking for it but when you finally do get it you might notice something a little odd about it and that's it moveset all it knows currently is quick attack pursuit leer and Focus energy...oh you think  it gets better overtime well allow me to crush your dreams because it does not get better over time in none of the moves it gets don't go above 80 attack power so lets do a quick rundown of its moveset  and i mean very quick rundown because it still does not learn alot at level 18 you get false swipe a move that no matter what will not kill the Pokemon in one hit which i will admit is a good move for hunting a rare Pokemon at level 24 you get agility which makes you move faster which us useless because scyther is already extremely fast at level 30 we finally get a decent move known as wing attack so that will be of good use just stick with that move for a while i don't even advise deleting it unless you get a stronger flying type move which is impossible...yep its impossible because scyther can't learn any other flying type move even when its A FLYING TYPE POKEMON....and a bug type....BUT THAT"S NOT THE POINT....okay i wont rage lets just move on  at level 36 you do get slash and i once again admit this is a very good move in fact it might be the best move this thing learns on its own so i will give scyther a point here he earns it at level 42 you get sword dance and once again i have to admit that is a good move but...its only for competitive play so don't even bother using that in the real game and finally we get double team at level 48....no comment 
anyway now we are going to move on to its effectiveness in the game....okay  it sucks it really really does i guess it could be useful it you picked totodile so you rivals starter will  be weak to it and i am sure some trainers Pokemon will be weak to it but no gym in the entire game is weak to it its just terrible okay now for tms and hms well fortunately and oddly this Pokemon can learn some pretty good tms and hms i know weird right and out of everything i tried the 4 moves i suggest you use if you have a scyther are-headbutt wing attack steel wing and pursuit-that's the best i could do i would have put hyper beam on there to but with its stats trust me it wont last long and that leads me to its stats now once again this Pokemon has some good stats its best are speed and attack which is a very good combo especially if you have the moveset i suggested and sadly its second worst stat is its health but hey there's a good side to this if you hit hard enough and fast enough you won't even have to worry about that so this Pokemon does get a point for stats and finally should you take this Pokemon to the elite 4....i think we all know the answer....what no the answer was no don't do it anyway time for final thoughts 

Final thoughts:honestly i don't know why people like using this Pokemon maybe its just in my logical nature to not pick something like this but i don't even need this when i am just playing for fun and really i don't know how anyone else does it has some goods stats and some good tms and hms but thats all there is to it plus it has 5 weakness all of them are common in the game those are flying fire rock electric and ice and 2 out of 5 of those weaknesses will do Alot of damage when you get serious this Pokemon really does suck but if you want to use it go ahead i just wont time for final rating
