Well my 3 year old cat just had kittens for her first time, she had a pretty small litter of only 3 but there was a problem. One of the cats was stillborn.... I was excited when I got home to see she had her babies but when I saw the little one  just laying there completely still and its mother licking it and meowing it hurt me pretty bad. I couldn't but shed a tear when my cat laid next to her baby and looked up to me like I could help her when I came in the room. Its pretty bittersweet, on one hand we have 2 new adorable kittens in the family, then on the other hand we have a life lost that never had the chance to meet its potential.

Smoc3 : Well this is sad. Sorry to hear that one kitten didn't survive. Well at least 2 of the kittens are born.

That is tough to hear man. I am sorry about that. I give you my condolences. Glad that you are looking on the bright side though, I have always wanted a cat but my mom is allergic. We'll see how things work out. I am glad that you are happy with the 2 newborn kittens you have. I think that It is always good to look on the positive side of things. Enjoy your 2 little kittens!

Razor-987 : I appreciate that bro, my mom and sister are allergic too so I had to wait till I moved out to get one. You can always get an outside cat and then you could go out and play with it whenever you want and your mom wont have to worry about it bothering her. I tried to pitch that to my mom but she wasn't having it.

Sounds sad yet still the circle of life did play it's role in this and two kittens where born so lets just hope that the other kittens are doing fine!

thats nice to hear dude i wish my german shepard had babies but its a male so that sucks but i still love him he is well trained i like cats so good luck raising them good and are you planning to give them away and sucks to loose a baby kitten i have lost my bunny as a kid i was real sad it got eaten by an animal so make sure those baby kittens dont get hurt or let them die cause i know someone who never took good care of their cats and just dont feed them and they starve so i feed the cats but yeah take good care of them

jose2307 : Yeah I plan to keep them for a while but my brother really loves cats so I might give him one since he doesn't have any animals. I'm gonna do everything it takes to make sure they have a good life. German Sheppard's are really good dogs. Sometimes they get a bad rap for being aggressive but they are just obedient so if their trainer is mean they will be too. I always wanted one but my mom didn't like them.

Sorry to hear one of the kittens didn't make it. It happens. In animals like cats, part of their evolutionary survival strategy is to quickly have lots of babies (As opposed to one big baby, such as animals like elephants, dolphins and humans). Unfortunately this means there is a greater chance that some of the babies won't make it.

I'm glad to hear you're going to do everything in your power to ensure the surviving kittens have a nice life. That's the responsible thing to do. Kittens are vulnerable and need good homes.

Smoc3 :  Agggghhhh, just reading your post made me want to burst into tears!  I would have been sad to see the stillborn, but I think I could have handled it.  After all, that's how life works sometimes, and it's a very natural process.

However, what I would NOT have been able to take, is the mother bringing the body to me and looking to me for help. THAT would have made me bawl!  I would have felt so, so sad over that.  It's soooo strange that you bring it up though. I once had a dream EXACTLY like that.  However my cat is a boy and so the dream didn't make complete sense.

I also had a cat that was very attached to a stuffed toy.  Sometimes, he would bring it up to me and lay it down on my feet and meow sadly.  I swear he thought it was dead and was pleading for help whenever he did that. It always broke my heart....

But yes... try not to focus on it!  Newborn cats are just about the SWEETEST and CUTEST things ever!!! What do they look like?
