I wanna know....do you prefer the older types of gaming (NES, Genises, Atari, Ecs.). Or do you prefer the current direction and design games are moving toward??

Don't leave your post blank. That is considered spam and it is against the vizzed rules.

I prefer retro games more than modern games.

I love alot of the older games more than the newer games that's why I want some remakes on classics such as Pokemon Red and Blue and Legend of Zelda the first one.

I admit though there are some really good newer games such as Fallout and DMC.

I usually like to stick to what I know best. Which is, the other generation of gaming. The only games I like now, are the new Nintendo games, as well as some sports games. But for the most part, I like NES, SNES, N64,Genesis, etc.

Let me preface this statement by saying, I love retro games.

That said, I prefer the way newer games are going. The games of the past were great, and they paved the way to where we are now. They can never be replaced, but 3D (imo) beats 2D control, and the ways that modern genres have been developed from their beginning counterparts are an improvement as far as I'm concerned.

A wise man once said "Better is the end of a thing, than the beginning thereof". We love retro largely because of the nostalgia, and historical value to the gaming comunity, but I'm not about to sit here and say that the original Zelda is better than the new ones, or the SMB is better than the new ones. Basically, games started out good, and (with exception of some popular titles these days) they keep getting better.

Furthermore, why do most of us keep buying new consoles and handhelds when they come out, if we're happier with the old systems we have or can emulate for free?

This is just my opinion of course. I can understand the views of those that disagree entirely.

In my opinion, both are great. But games now are made by so many people from all across the world, games can be completely new, or feel retro. A lot of Indie developers make retro-style games which, feel like an old game! That's what I like about games now, you can play exactly what you want.

I don't see how you can choose either one. I suppose if you only like gameplay or you only like stunning visuals I'd understand. I do love the direction games are taking though, because of exploring. GTA, Saints Row, the new MGS, some super hero games, Sleeping Dogs, any number of MMOs, TES, Fallout, etc. I could go on and on with the great sandbox games. Older games simply had too much restriction to be able to create a huge, fleshed-out world. I do appreciate the older games paving the way, and the obvious love that was put into those games, making the gameplay of games like Mario fluid and fun.

Well i know a couple of people that hate retro games, and i have some that hate modern games.  I just wanted to see some more opinions cuz a lot of people say that the gamin industry, though it is improving, is bein dumbed down.  I feel that my experiences with my old Dreamcast were more memorable then the Xbox 360 or PS3.
