I can say, out of all the forums I've been on, even the one I've been an Admin on, I do got to say, out of everyone of those sites, David is the best site owner their is, you really created a great site, without you, I don't know on what to do.

Hmm... well, the answer is... eh, YES, OMG YES!!! This amazing person is the best site owner I ever seen, talked with and heard about! Man, David is a great exaple for those who try create his own comunity! Am I right or not? Of course I am!!

Well, I'm going to be completely honest.

David's a pretty good owner all things considered. He's got his good qualities, and he has his faults. Everyone does. To pretend someone is perfect is absolutely freaking ridiculous.

For those who are less traveled than I (I am not TOO well traveled myself) there are a few owners who have run a site better, however, David has a unique challenge on his plate compared to them. That unique challenge is that Vizzed is a much much bigger site.

The general rule of thumb is this:

User Satisfaction of Owner = (Features owner implements - 1% of users on site)*time site has been around.

I know that's probably a bad math equation. But the point is, the owners that are the best tend to have smaller sites, that have been around a good amount of time, and have a couple cool features. David has put in more than a few features, and has been around for a while. However, the site has soooo many users, that David can't reasonably please them all (or even 3/4 of them really, there are just toooo many users to please!)

As such, he has a higher standard to live up to than most owners.

Most owners can get more involved in the community, because the community is smaller and not so built around the expansion that Vizzed has experienced over the past 3 years.

As someone who has gotten to know David somewhat personally, I know that he's got a lot on his plate, and not just with the site. There's a lot to running a website, and it gets more complicated when you delve into personal matters. Basically, this is a disadvantage for David, as there will always be people who see him as slacking, or uncaring, when this is simply not the case. He's one man, and he doesn't have a big team (or even a small one) to help him with stuff that goes beyond regular board cleanup and maintenance.

It's hard to imagine, I know, but David very much is a one man team with more than a few aspects of running this site, and he has his reasons for doing so. The advantage most owners have is they have teams to help them so the owner can become more involved in the community.

All things considered, he really does spend a lot of time with the general memberbase, and the users should be grateful to have him around.

David may not be the "best" owner but he can definitely make a case for one of my "favorite" owners, if that makes sense. The thing about being the best, is that being the best is often overrated. He does his best, and that's what matters. That's why I can put up with some of the things I don't agree with, or see as broken, though I know I'm not in the majority on all of these things. That's the mark of a good owner.

legacyme3 : It is hard to find a good balance between user interaction and site development, it is great when people understand that because a lot of people don't. I do wish I could have more user interaction and I do plan for more of it, especially now that I'll have a little more time for it due to less site issues to work on (for now anyway).

You had a lot of great points and I'm glad you took the time to make that post and not just for my sake but for those who have never taken into consideration some of the things you've pointed out.

I think he's the best because of his amount of user interaction and site involvement. I also like the fact that he is really understanding of most problems, nowhere else would an owner take the time to read my message and change my user name, and they especially would not reply with a nice understanding message. I'm glad this site is not run by an ornery dictator like most popular forums.

Sorry, David. But no, you are not. My favorite is me.

Yes. By a long shot. He interacts with the users a lot, which is very unlikely on other websites. He picked a good staff, and enforces the rules. 

Well he's the ONLY site owner I know at this point. I have lots of respect for him and his work on here no doubt about it.

I've never really interacted with any other site owners but from what I have seen him do and what he has done from the site definitely makes him my favourite site owner. He tries to keep everything family friendly and it really shows when you're around the site. I've never actually had any problems with this site. So ya, he's my favourite site owner.

Absolutely, Davideo is a hardworking, nice and fair site owner. The only other site owner I can think of is Mark Zuckerburg, and the twitter guy, but no one likes them, and whoever owns google, I hate them as well.

Rather than brown nose said owner... I'll be honest he isn't my favourite site owner.. Yes he may have good qualities and perhaps bad ones as well... but regardless I know of better site owners, for me personally anyways.
