This was the first Mega Man game I got for my NES a few years ago and would be my favorite game in the series for a short amount of time since the only other Classic series I played was Mega Man 1 years back. Overtime playing the other games in the series I began to find this game to be a bit overrated, although still good. It felt like this game was the only game people would talk about when it came to the NES Mega Mans. Mega Man 3 would come up occasionally, but most of the time it was 2 lol.

Overall: Mega Man 2 is a good improvement over the first game and although it may not be my favorite in the series, it’s still a great game to play. The game has a nice balanced difficulty, great music, good graphics, and more traps and level designs. The controls still aren’t perfect, but as I mentioned, a small improvement. If you’re new to the series I would either give this game, 3, 6, or 10 a shot to get you introduced into the series. You can find the game on a variety on consoles, most notably the NES, Virtual Console, and the Anniversary Collection for the PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox lol. Mega Man 2 scores an 8.5/10 (Above great).

Graphics: 6. Not much to say about it since its NES and Graphics almost don't matter in games like these. Original and clean looking. Graphically, the game is a step above 1, however the game seems to have more flicker problems for the NES version. The stages all look nice and have less solid color backgrounds. The bosses in Wily stage 1 and 3 are enormous and show how the team used the NES to its fullest with the limitations lol.

Sound / Music: Simply excellent. Mega Man 2 has some of the most well-known/memorable music pieces in the series. Compared to 1’s the soundtrack is less repetitive, but there is only one boss theme for the entire game.

Addictiveness: I go back and play Mega Man 2 about as much as Mega Man 1. With 8 Robot Masters there are more options to choose what stage order you playthrough.

Story: Same Old Same Old... Dr. Wily has built a new fortress and a new robot army with eight new Robot Masters leading. Dr. Light sends Mega Man out to stop Dr. Wily’s new plan of world domination.
"The Light Numbers are not the greatest robotic force in the world. The defining power of robots of robots lies within my Wily Numbers!!"

Depth: The game is virtually the same as Mega Man 1; you’re still running, shooting, and jumping. However, some new features were added. E-Tanks which refill your life if it’s low and Items 1, 2, and 3 which would help Mega Man get across various obstacles. There are now eight Robot Masters which would become the standard for the series and six Wily stages. Some Robot Masters have multiple weaknesses, for example, Wood Man is weak to Atomic Fire, Metal Blades, and the Air Shooter. Something interesting about the weaknesses is that Metal Man is weak to his own attack. Other new features include infinite continues, passwords and two difficulty modes for the US release. Also you can see Wily’s Castle before you go to it.
The Master Weapons are all helpful in their own way. Crash Man’s weapon Crash Bombs can be used to break certain walls while Wood Man’s Leaf Shield protects you from enemies as long as you don’t move. Of course I can’t forget the Metal Blades, Metal Man’s weapon, the most overpowered weapon in the classic series; it kills just about anything and can be used 112 times before running out, but since weapon refill capsules are common in the game, you’ll basically never run out. The controls are still a bit slippery, but they’re not as bad as they were in the first game.

Difficulty: The game was way easier than 1, even on “Difficult” which is the regular mode that Rockman 2 had and the Wily Wars remake of Mega Man 2. The Robot Masters die quicker in this game than 1 too. Two hits with Air Shooter to Crash Man kills him, three hits on difficult. You could probably sneeze on them and they blow up. The only difficult parts I found the game were the Wily Stage 4 boss, but more in a badly designed way. The boss is only weak to Crash Bombs, but you have to either memorize which walls have to be blown up or blow up all the walls, die, farm for weapon energy, then destroy all the gun orbs due to the Master Weapon being limited to seven uses. Quick Man’s stage can be a bit hard too due to the fast moving one-hit kill lasers.

Tips: Press START in Wily stage 3’s vertical spike fall to restart Mega Man’s velocity (slows him down so he doesn’t fall so fast).

Hold down A when you select a Robot Master from the stage select and birds will appear rather than stars.

Thank you for reading my Mega Man 2 Review.

RANDOM FUNNY MEGA MAN STORY I WROTE:

Chapter One - Catching the Bus
Megaman is standing at the front door to Dr. Light's Lab. He has a backpack on, and is visibly upset.
Megaman: Okay, so why do I have to do this again?
Dr. Light: It's an experiment to see how well your AI will integrate with normal teenagers. You are fifteen, after all...
Megaman: I gotta go in as a freshman?! Aw, crap...
Light: Just go with it, Rock. You'll have fun, I promise.
Megaman: I can't even drive there?
Light: It wouldn't be consistent with the role you're trying to play. The bus is your only way to school.
Megaman: Yeah, I guess you're right.
Light: I can drive you...
Megaman: It's okay. You don't have to do that, Doc. You'd probably just end up embarassing me, anyway.
Light: I loved high school, myself.
Megaman: Yeah, I still can't believe you had that beard back then, Doc.
(Shows yearbook pic of Doc)
Light: Heh...I used to sneak food into class with this thing. (Feels at his chin hair again.) Hey, lookee here! (He pulls out a wad of some grey, nondescript meatlike substance. It smells a bit like hardboiled eggs.) It's some of my old cafeteria's salisbury steak! (He sniffs it, gagging slightly.) I think I'll get Roll to dispose of this...you should go ahead, Rock, or you'll miss your bus...
Megaman: Right.
>
At the bus stop, he sees Zero standing there, dressed in plain clothes, trying as best he can to get his huge blonde locks into some semblance of kemptness. X is sitting on the bench nearby, dressed simlilarly, and coughing, it seems.) Hey...Zero? What are you doing here at the bus stop? And a hundred years in the past, for that matter?
Zero : Ah, the writer wanted to put us both in here 'cause he likes us...something about omnipotence over whatever happens to us in his stories or something...some kind of union thing, I guess...
Megaman: Right. Anyway...having a bad hair day?
Zero : (glares) Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep this mane smooth and flowin'? If I were workin' today, I'd just call in sick or something...I'm just not me without my cool hair...
Megaman: (sighs) Anyway...X, you okay? That cough sounds pretty bad.
X: (still coughing violently) Hey...*cough*...hey Rock...*cough*...
Megaman: What the heck's the matter? You got a weird computer-virus stomach flu or somethin'?
X: My...*cough*...my voice...
Megaman: Your voice?
X: Yeah...It's been acting up again...
Megaman: Hey, it'll be okay. High-schoolers half-expect freshmen to still have their squeaky voices, anyway.
Xloudly, shrieking) I DO NOT HAVE A SQUEAKY VOICE!!!!!!
MegamanEyes are wide after X finishes. A window nearby is broken, and Tango now lies dead on the sidewalk) O' course not, X...they all make fun of you for no reason...
X: You're doing it again!
Zero : Shut up over there for a minute, will ya? I can't hear myself think over your blabbing! Why don't you take a few shots of WD-40 for that voice of yours, X? Geeez...
X is infuriated and rushes over, clawing at Zero.Thankfully, Megaman holds him back from the neck of the turtleneck X is wearing. Throwing X finally back onto the bench, Megaman uses Time-Stopper to freeze X in place.
Megaman: Time-Stopper!!
Zero : Funny...I thought you lost all your special weapons after each game. What gives?
Megaman: Ah well, the writer needed some quick way to keep X out of the conversation for awhile. That was the best he could do.
Zero : Oh. Well, anyway, the bus ought to be here any minute... Oh, Lord, does my hair look okay?
Megaman just stares.
Megaman: And you WONDER why people think you and X are gay...
Zero : Alia, I am SO going to kill you for using up all of my quadruple-strength hair gel...
Megaman: Shut up and act natural. Here comes our ticket to a day of hell.
The bus pulls up. Megaman steps on board. Zero follows him closely.
Driver: You gentlemen got fare?
Zero : Great. Exact change, I suppose?
Driver: Yep.
Zero (sighs): Perfect. (Digs in his pockets.) I've got a five-dollar bill, a battery, and a wad of lint. Will that do?
Driver: Where you boys goin'?
Megaman: Ryutaro's High School, ma'am. Other side of town.
Driver: Well, this ain't exact change to get there, but...I'll be willing to let it slide if Red Boy here gives me a smoochie...
Megaman: It can't be worse than having to walk, I guess. Go ahead, Zero. We've got no other way of getting across town.
Zero : Ever heard of a taxi, genius?
Megaman: They're all down this week. Something about Wily's robots having a field day with them all downtown. I should probably be checking that out, but...I guess this is more important to the Doc.
Zero : How 'bout teleportation?
Megaman: We can only go places where we've already been...and I haven't been to the high school, and I'm pretty sure you haven't...
Zero : (grumble)
Driver: So what's it gonna be, boys?
Zero : Um, Rock, can I see you...over HERE...just a second?
Megaman walks over. Zero chokes him around the neck.
Now THIS is for your bright ideas! I AM NOT kissing that woman! She's absolutely hideous! She looks like she could be Frankenstein's grandmother!
Driver: Well?
Megaman: I...have a plan.
Zero : Huh?
Megaman: I know how we can get this bus.
Megaman whispers to Zero. Moments later...
Zero : All right, Ms. Driver. Here. (He stands up, walks up to the driver's seat. Sighs loudly and crosses himself.) Kiss your red boy.
Driver(lunges forward): Hot dang!! I got me a man!
Zero dodges her and pulls the door handle quickly. She falls out of her seat and through the open doors, then continues tumbling out. She rolls until she hits the bench that Megaman froze X on.
Zero : Yee-hah! (Shuts the doors.) We got us a bus!
He drives off, squealing the bus tires.
Time-Stopper finally wears off of X.
Driver: Yahoo! C'mere, handsome!
X: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAIGH!!!!!!!!!!!! (Runs away, the driver chasing him off.)
End Chapter 1.

Cool Thing: Mega Man, alternatively written as Megaman and MegaMan, known as Rockman(?????Rokkuman?) in Japan, is a video game franchise from Capcom, starring the robot character Mega Man, or one of his many counterparts. Mega Man, released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, began a series of over 50 games on multiple systems. As of December 31, 2010, the series has sold approximately twenty-nine million copies worldwide, making it Capcom's most prolific franchise.

Capcom wanted a redesign in graphics and control as the Mega Man series moved from the NES to the SNES, prompting the creation of the Mega Man X series in 1993. Set in the future, this series follows the story of Mega Man's successor, Mega Man X, a new, advanced robot that has complete free will over his actions, thoughts and feelings. This character—often referred to as simply "X"—is also a creation of Dr. Light, put into suspended animation and uncovered 100 years in the future by a researcher named Dr. Cain. The Mega Man X series features more realistic 16-bit graphics and greater freedom of movement. In the Mega Man X series, the characters grow in abilities and power as the game progresses.
As the series progressed, various other player characters have appeared, such as fellow Maverick Hunter Zero who was created by Dr. Wily of the Classic series, OVER-1, created jointly by Dr. Light and Dr. Cossack, a Reploid with an adolescent personality named Axl who has the ability to shape-shift into other Reploids. Zero would later star in his own spin-off series, Mega Man Zero.
To date, the Mega Man X series has not reached a definite conclusion, and in fact has been dangling from a cliff-hanger since the eighth title.
