Every March and September, Konami release a new ban list. The ban list is their way of keeping tournaments balanced. If one or two cards allow one deck to be way better than all of the others, those cards may be limited to only 2 copies per deck, only one copy per deck, or they can make it so you can't use any copies.

So what cards do you think should be added to the ban list this September and why? I have a long list in mind, but I'm curious what other people think.

If its that unbalanced that they need to ban cards I dont think they have designed the game very well.

But, I think that Number 39: Utopia should be banned. Now, shut up for a second and let me explain. It's overpowered for the price to summon it; 2 LV. 4 monsters, some of the most common and easiest to find and summon in the entire GAME.  Also, 2500 At?! WAY TOO HIGH! It's ability is a pain in the butt too, is negates an attack. Which is useful. Way TOO useful. Rank 4 XYZ? No way. Banned? Way.

Hidden Phantom :   Yes. That is true. But I really do think that it is a really cheep card. It is way to over powered. Plus you only beat me once with it.

I think it's stupid to ban cards. Limiting them isn't too bad (you can easily construct your deck differently) but if you have the cards why not be able to use them? 
Barathemos : If your deck was constructed differently then you could easily destroy his monster. 

earthwarrior : No, it is a trap card. And I don't have many trap destroying cards.

I think that Lightning Vortex should be banned. Discarding 1 card is not enough of a price to destroy all of your opponent's monsters.

Relinquished. I mean, seriously, it changes one of your opponent's cards' ATK and DEF to 0. That doesn't sound too bad, right? One of my brothers used to have some strategy where he used a cards with Relinquished that made ALL of your opponents cards have 0 ATK and DEF.

No one uses it in major tournaments. If it was that OP, people would use it and Konami might consider hitting it.

No. Just no. Utopia is easy to take out and after it stops two attacks, it gets destroyed the instant it gets attacked. Iron Chain Dragon is a Level 6 synchro that sends cards from your opponent's deck to the grave and it has 2500 atk too. Ophion has 2550. Laggia can stop anything except a monster effect and it has 2400. There are a lot of high attack monsters with good effects, but they're not unfair to the point of needing to be hit. Well maybe Ophion limited to 1, but the rest are fine at 3.

Meh. It only kills face up monsters and it does have a cost. If Dark Hole gets banned, they might consider it.

Unless the deck can continuously and consistently drop it and get that combo out in either the first or second turn, it's not OP enough to get hit.

The problem isn't the balance of the game. On their own, the cards are balanced. When players find creative ways to make them OP, the balance goes away. Think of Dino Rabbits. Rescue Rabbit (remove from play to special two of the same level 4 or lower normal monster) was intended to summon two Alexandrite Dragons in order to quickly summon Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon. The Rank 4 Evolzar Xyz monsters were meant to work with the Evoltile/Evolsaur deck.

Instead people decided to use Rabbit to drop either two Sabersaurus or two Kabazauls to quickly drop either Laggia or Dolkka. Both of those Evolzars have strong negation effects. That deck was topping a ton of major tournaments last year. Konami couldn't have predicted something like that.

No ban list is an amusing thought. Ever heard of the Butterfly Dagger OTK or the Yata Garasu OTK?

Butterfly Dagger Elma, Gearfried the Iron Knight, and either Royal Magical Library or Spell Absorption create a finite loop that instantly wins a game. If any card is equipped to Gearfried, it is destroyed instantly. When Butterfly Dagger is destroyed, it returns to your hand. So you play it on Gearfried, it gets destroyed, and it returns to your hand to be used again. With Royal Magical Library, every 3 spells lets you draw a card. Draw for Exodia. With Spell Absorption, every time a spell is played, gain 500 LP. No one will beat you when you have 99999999...... LP.

4 cards are needed for the Yata Garasu OTK. Yata Garasu, Sangan, and Chaos Emperor Dragon Envoy of the End (CED for short). CED special summons itself for an easy cost (cost not important to OTK). When CED is summoned it can destroy every card on the field and send every card in both player's hands to the grave (that effect got it banned). Before doing that, have Sangan on the field. When CED destroys everything, Sangan will activate. Sangan lets you add Yata Garasu to your hand.

And here's the broken part. Summon Yata Garasu in that turn and attack them directly. If Yata Garasu does damage at all, the player who was attacked skips their next Draw Phase. So they have no hand, no field, and they never get to draw again. All they can do is sit and watch an annoying little bird beat them to death. Anything that takes away an opponent's draw phase always gets banned eventually.

Now imagine tournaments where all of those cards are legal for play. Out of maybe 32 people, at least 20 of them would have decks like those. The 12 people who made decks that could have been competitive if Butterfly Dagger or Yata Garasu was banned can only sit and lose over and over again. Now imagine the regional/national tournaments with hundreds of people playing those decks.

The ban list is meant to balance the tournaments so that people can actually enjoy the game. You might think Yata Garasu is a funny little tech in a Blue Eyes deck, but if you can run it, then so can the people who want to make the Yata Garasu OTK.

Yeah but why make those cards if you're going to ban them?

They rarely make cards that they know will get banned. People are just way too creative. There are two exceptions. Temple of the Kings was banned upon release and they're releasing another card in the next Legendary Collection (LC4: Joey's World) that they already announced will be banned immediately and is only for collection purposes.

BNuge : Cards I think should be on the banlist is Raigeki and Mirror Force. Raigeki and Mirror Force are just say too annoying. Dark Mirror Force is fine but Mirror Force I really don't like. and Raigeki! No cost to destroy ALL monsters on the field.

Raigeki has been banned for years and deserves to stay there in my opinion. Mirror Force is a pain in the bleep, but it's not as bad as it used to be in tournaments. It was Limited to 1 for a while, then they bumped it up to 2, and starting this September you'll be able to have 3 in each deck. It doesn't affect Mecha Phantom Beasts or Dragon Rulers, Spellbook/Prophecy deck doesn't care, and Six Samurais and X Sabers just negate it with their effects. Not to mention the absurd amount of negation floating around.

nzip : It's Yu-gi-oh, it says it right there in the friggin title.  Nothing else for me to say, because I haven't played no yuigioh in a long time or all that much, to know what type of cards that i Think should be banned.
