I normally call him Dr. Eggman because when I was growing up, I was the Shadow the Hedgehog and beyond crowd and I just knew him as Dr. Eggman. I only found out about Dr. Robotnik after watching Sonic Underground when I was 10.

I call him Eggman, sure I grew up with the old games, but I still watched stuff like Sonic X and I started playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and onward, so I've only really ever referred to him as Eggman.

I had played the Sonic games, but not enough to be very knowledgeable on everyone's names. I knew his name was Gerald Robotnik so that is what I called him. The first time I had heard him called 'Eggman' was when I played Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast when I was in 6th grade. Well, it started with Sonic saying "Hey look! It's a giant talking egg!". He clarified himself as Robotnik. I just figured that 'Eggman' was just an insult Sonic was doing as some ongoing joke. Then I started noticing how most of his inventions had 'egg' in it, and I caught on. But the name Robotnik was already imprinted in my mind, so it just felt weird to call him Eggman.
