The title says it all, I am getting mine pulled out in a few months because dentists say it is time and that the don't want my back teeth to interfere with my nerves and they are pulling them out soon.

I am kind if nervous, I know it will be painful so I want to know if anybody here has had this happen before or are going to have it done to them. I am just nervous and concerned on how painful it might be, even if I am knocked out.

So, anybody had this happen before? Any advice you can lend?

No, but I was told that if you had your wisdom tooth pulled out it would hurt, and there would be lot's of blood from it. I really do not want my wisdom tooth coming out. I do not want to be in pain of my gums hurting, and I don't want to be in fear of losing to much blood. I was told that losing a regular tooth is way better than risking a tooth like that. I was told that if you kept a tooth in your mouth so long it would turn gray, hurt worst than pulling it out, and fall out, and still hurt.

Barathemos : yeah I don't want mine pulled out either!

linkmaster99 : Yeah, ugh, that sounds pretty bad, I hate losing blood and it sucks because they are important teeth too. I am not looking forward to this at all. I hate being in pain. This sucks! I wish there was a less painful way of doing this! I am not looking forward to this!!!

1sam234 : that is good. I don't feel any pain having them in now and I am still debating on getting them pulled. I hope not, and my parents have forgotten about it so I will just leave it at that. I don't want to be in that kind of pain for several days. I don't want to lose too much blood or anything either, that would just really suck so I hope they forget about the whole thing altogether. I don't think I am in serious need of having them pulled anyways.

I had mine pulled. It wasn't nothing. I was smoking and drinking soda the same day lol. I don't hurt or anything. You will just have to keep a bit cotton thing in your mouth for a bit. Even if you do think it hurts or you feel sore they give a pain pills so you can take those as needed.

I have not personally, but I will probably next summer (was going to do it this month, but decided that the current discomfort wasn't worth the cost, and I can wait a year.

But you shouldn't worry too much. My wife had hers taken out last year. She does not handle pain well AT ALL. But she was fine for the most part. They prescribe you pain medication that is pretty strong, so she didn't really have any pain from it. However, there is the possibility of getting dry sockets. While you are healing, you basically have open holes in your gums, so you can get clots. That is apparently fairly painful. But as long as you drink lots of water during recovery, it shouldn't happen. It happened to my wife, and it was discomforting for just a couple of days. But like I said, she has very low pain tolerance, and she handled it pretty well.

Another thing to take into consideration is that my wife is an adult who had them taken out. You are still a kid (no trying to offend, but 16 is still very young). Getting this stuff done at a younger age is better as your recovery should be pretty quick.

Alright, this is a fun story. Not really. Alright, so when I was 14, I got my wisdom teeth. When I was about 14 1/2, I had to got to get my wisdom teeth removed. But right before I went to get them pulled, they said I would need to get 6 MORE removed. Oh, that was bad, but it did get better. So, I got them removed, all 4. So, 10 teeth in 2 hours. After that it was 2 weeks until I got out of the pain. You know how I said it got better? Well, that was about braces. Originally, I had to get braces, but my teeth fixed themself. I was SO HAPPY! Wel, that is about it. I didn't like it at all.

Yeah I think I am over my fear of it now. I am pretty young as carter said and I think that I can handle it and plus with being young I think I will heal faster and the pain wouldn't last as long if I were to get it done as an adult. I will do it. But it has been rescheduled for a few months so I have time. Sure it won't feel good at all, but the pain will only last for a few days and it will be over with. I am tough and I will be knocked out anyway so it won't hurt as bad. Thanks for all of the replies guys. I will do it!
