Celebrities and Special Treatment

Should Celebrities be given Special Treatment if they commit a crime?
Yes, they are Public Figures and could become High Profile targets for violence in Prison if they aren't protected

No, they have commited a crime and they should be punished equally under the law (Equal Protection Clause)

Maybe, they should be given special treatment if they are first time offenders, but treated equally if they have a history of commiting crimes.

I don't think I really need to explain this topic, but I will so that people know what I'm talking about.

Okay folks, so I'm sure we have all heard about some Celebrity committing a crime or multiple crimes. Yet when these Celebrities do commit these crimes, they usually end up getting either probation, multiple warnings, rehab, etc. Yet if one of us Average Joes commits the same crime that these Celebrities commit, we end up in jail, prison, or paying huge fines that we can't afford.

So my question is this to all of you folks on Viz.

1. Should Celebrities be punished equally under the law or should they be given special treatment.

2. Should the 14th Amendment which has the "Equal Protection Clause" constitute a celebrity being treated equally under the law if they commit a crime?

3. If you disagree, then how many times should a Celebrity be given special treatment before they are treated like any other criminal who commits a crime?

thenumberone : I couldn't have said it better myself. I believe that they're people, on our level, and if they commit a crime, there is no special treatment or leniency for them.

For my knowledge, celebrities and other rich people shouldn't get special treatment when they comment a crime and it should be fair that they get the same treatment as everyone else does, like the same punishments, and like you aid, the 14th amendment, “Everyone” should be treated no matter the race, age, wealth, fame, or any of those.

retropokemon : When did Tiger Woods kill his wife? I assume you are thinking of OJ Simpson, who is actually sentenced to jail for thirty-three years right now for armed robbery, and is eligible for parole in 2017, so he is getting his comeuppance.
